Amazing food and service, excellent menu. Try the crispy soy beef with chilli, and the curry puffs! Really great for takeaway as well, strongly recommend this place for a great meal! View all feedback.
What Jovany Yundt doesn't like about Au Lac Royal Vegetarian Cuisine:
I know lots of people rave about this, especially vegetarians. It is all-vegan, with options for more restricted diets. So, it is a joy to go with a group and have a whole menu of vegetarian choices. The staff are lovely: enthusiastic, friendly. But I found the food to be very ordinary indeed. I have been 3 times over the last year, different dishes each time. None were exceptional. I haven't eaten vegetarian food in... View all feedback.

Having read good reviews for this place I was hoping I would enjoy it more. Unfortunately it was nothing to rave about. We tried the mock roast duck. Surprisingly it does taste a bit like roast duck but the "skin" was a bit too oily due to being deep fried to make the texture more like crispy duck skin. We also had the mushrooms and eggplant hot pot. I've had better veggie dishes in non vegetarian restaurants. For the extra dollars you pay, it's not really worth it.
I have been coming here for over a year and Au Lac never disappoints me. I try and always get a new dish every time I visit, and so far I have loved everything. The service is great and the staff are friendly. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, and the food is absolutely delicious. This is my favourite vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Canberra.
I'm not a vegetarian but I love all food! So when my friend suggested going to Au Lac on our food crawl I was up for trying it. It's a big, clean, uncluttered restaurant and the staff were lovely and helpful. We ordered the duck pancakes and the Vietnamese Cannelloni. Yum! I was a little unsure about what the duck pancakes would taste like but they were surprisingly similar to the real thing. I loved the Cannelloni! The noodle roll was soft and filled with a tasty filling. The vietnamese dipping sauce and fresh salad were perfect and it was a flavour explosion when eaten altogether. There are so many option on this menu and all the meat substitutes are soy products. There were plenty of people in the restaurant but there were still tables free so it was easy for us to get a table for two. If you're vegan or vegetarian I think you would love this place and if not, why not try something new and give it a go anyway. eatcanberra.com.au
Great diversity of delicous, filling, interesting and nutritious meals. Great value and friendly staff. I've been there a few times now and it's definitely a jewel in Dickson's crown.
