Great experience here! The set/course menu was a great way to taste some stereotypical Belgian foods. I have the feeling it is a bit of a tourist trap option, but for the first time honest to visit it was exactly what I wanted. Service was also very friendly and prompt (English no problem). Definitely a good option for a nice dinner after a day of tourism in Bruges. View all feedback.
We were in Brugge at De Gastro yesterday. We were not disappointed, unlike some other restaurants that were rated higher, but ended quite average. We were a party of 5. The restaurant decor was welcoming and fresh, and the waiter was friendly and gave us a great table. We wanted a traditional food and ordered shells, and the local beef and fish inpots for main courses, specified by Entrée of Beef Carpaccio and tomatoes Burrata Salad. All dishes were delicious and full of different flavors we enjoyed throughout. The shells were perfectly cooked in a garlic and cream sauce, while I think the fish stew was amazing. Service was attentive, fast and efficient. It wasn't the cheapest restaurant. But if you are looking for traditional Brugge tariff in a warm environment where you can spend quality time chatting and enjoy good food, then don't go past this place.
We wanted to try some traditional dishes. Ended up ordering the ribbs and the rabbit leg. Both were delicious! The prices are reasonable, and the service was faster than other restaurants we have been in Brugge. The homemade tiramisu was very good too! :
Was searching for a restaurant close to where I was staying, and walked the area the night before. I noted that De Gastro was among the most crowded of the many nearby establishments, and booked myself a reservation for the following night. Glad I did! It's a wonderful, homey space and is especially charming and romantic at night. The menu has lots of great options to choose from. I got the Flemish seafood stew and creme brulee. The stew was loaded with fish and shellfish and had a wonderful, aromatic broth that was a great accompaniment for both the seafood and the potato dollops that came with it. The dessert was excellent, though my daughter is ready to kill me as my 2 year-old grandson saw a picture of the flambe, and now wants all his desserts to be served on fire! High quality service. Appreciated that they had Oban on their whiskey list and enjoyed a couple drams with my dinner. Highly Recommended!
Amazing food and service. I was with a baby and the staffs helped our pram up the entrance steps, got us a spot where I can park the pram right by the table, on top of that they brought us a high chair. Such a stress free dining experience with baby. Last but not least, beef tartare was divine delicious! Ordered a coffee and got little treats with it too. Nice surprises all the way.
Review €€ €€€ Excellent cooking skills of the chef at De Gastro. Make sure to make a reservation for lunch and dinner. The positive reputation attracts many tourists as well as locals. Beef stew 4.5: Well done and tender beef meat Fish stew 5: Superb dish with a variety of sea food Rabbit leg 5: Tender meat and good pairing of sauce and vegetables. Snail 4: Nicely earthy taste of the snails. however, the baby leaf salad was a bit too citrusy Bread 5: it's freshly baked with a soft inner crumb. Simply delicious. Service: very friendly and welcoming service Restaurant interior design: warm and comfortable furniture and decoration with wood.
