Was Elizabeth D at Bäckerei Kickartz a mag?
This is a great little bakery with 10 or so tables where you can buy nice sandwiches (we had the schnitzel ones and they were delicious; and the price was excellent: around 3 euros). We also popped up for coffee and cake; we have a very nice apple streusel. View all feedback.

Stopped here for an impromptu lunch whilst on a day trip from Belgium. We are English and waitress spoke perfect English! She was so helpful and delightful! Really delicious food that the whole family enjoyed fresh, tasty and different! We bought a loaf too on leaving and it was to die for!!! Hope to return one day :

This is a bakery, located in the center of Aachen (next to the Elisenbrunnen), with a seating area and a terrace. There is no toilet and it is self-service. They have excellent and generous sandwiches. Soft drinks is served in bottles. The cappuccino had nice foam and tasted fine. All in all a good place for a sandwich or a piece of cake.

It's not the cheapest place for a coffee and pie in Aachen, but their quality is good, service is friendly and value for money is okay. With a bit of luck, you can have a table, ovelooking the opposite Elisenbrunnen.

Note a café, pre se, but a very dependable and quality bäckerei, for sure. Very well located, too, right next to the Elisenbrunnen in central Aachen. Not wanting to spend Euro 22 for breakfast at our hotel, we would sometimes come to this place for a morning coffee and snack. The snack can be something pastry-like or a 'belegtes brotchen ', a bun with cheese and deli meat or similar. All freshly prepared, affordable and tasty. This particular location (I believe there are a fre in the city and region) seems to be a morning hang-out for the older crowd. A couple of walkers always on display and people taking their time. But that goes to show you that, first, they get their money 's worth and, second, they are comfortable and safe at the Kickartz. And the staff are pleasant, courteous and prompt. This is a 'order-at-the-counter ' bäckerei, no table service. Easy to point and grunt and hand over your Euros if you don 't want to say much.
