It may be a bit off the beaten path, but trust me, it's well worth the visit. The café is surrounded by breathtaking scenery and serves up exceptional food. The owner sources fresh vegetables and fruits from their own farm, creating dishes that burst with flavor. Be sure to make a lunch reservation ahead of time (I believe it's required at least a day in advance), but the owner was kind enough to whip up a delicious meal for me on the same day I visited. Cafe Millet also hosts weddings and workshops, making it a versatile and picturesque venue. I highly recommend this spot as a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. There's a bus that can take you there, but it only runs once an hour, so plan accordingly and you won't be disappointed.

The bread served was baked in-house and we had the option to add honey harvested from their own hives. The portions are moderate and served in Japanese style, costing around 2500 yen. Despite the price, the beauty of the surroundings and the quality and presentation of the food make it worth it. The cafe also sponsors art, music, and crafts events. Reservations are required, and you can contact them at 075-741-3303 or via email. To reach Cafe Millet, simply take the Kyoto Bus 34 from Demachiyanagi Station, exit at exit 7, and look for Bus stop E right in front of the station. From there, take the bus to the end station Shiroyama, and walk 3 minutes in front of the farmhouse on the left side of the main road. Look for a sign that says "Millet" in front of the house.
