Apple Pie Recipe

Step 1: If you're feeling generous, peel and slice some Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples. Slice 'em thin so they don't end up all mushy and weird in the pie. You gotta balance the tartness and sweetness, apparently.

Step 2: Toss those stupid apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a bit of lemon juice. Supposedly this makes them taste better. I don't really care.

Step 3: Make the crust from scratch if you have the time and patience. Mix butter and shortening with flour to make it flaky or whatever. I never understood why there needs to be two layers of crust.

Step 4: Once you've rolled out the stupid crust and mixed up the dumb filling, pile the apple junk into the middle of the crust. Slap on another crust layer and pinch the edges together so they don't fall apart.

Step 5: Brush the stupid pie with butter, sprinkle on some cinnamon sugar, and bake it until it looks decent. The house will smell nice, at least. Everyone will drool over it, just like my daughter and her hubby.

There you go, the darn apple pie recipe that my daughter won't stop talking about. Enjoy, I guess. And make sure to save me a piece, I guess.
