I recently became a local at this restaurant, and to be honest, I was a bit hesitant at first. I don't usually trust others' opinions when it comes to food. However, I took the plunge, and it was truly worth it. As I travel around Australia, I haven't had a curry that is as well-balanced and flavorful as this one, and the Naan was the perfect sidekick to complement it. This place is a must-visit for curry lovers. I'll be here for 10 days, and I won’t be looking anywhere else. Five stars simply isn't enough!
I always have a wonderful meal at this restaurant. The staff is extremely friendly, the portions are generous, and the food is incredibly delicious. They also offer a good variety of beers that pair well with the dishes. I always make it a point to visit when I'm in Port Augusta.
The meals are outstanding; they are a bit on the expensive side, but you definitely get what you pay for in terms of quality.
The Standpipe Restaurant We read about this restaurant months before we started our 2 month road trip. The restaurant is a part of a motel, which made it extra easy for us to book a table for the Saturday night that we had planned to dine in the restaurant. A booking is recommended although the place is quite spacious; it’s also family orientated. The two of us had a pleasant table and the service was friendly and efficient. Waiting time between drinks and starters was socially adequate and when the main meal arrived we were ready for it. For starters we enjoyed onion bhaji and somasa, both served with a deliciously fragrant mint chutney and just the right amount of freshly sliced capsicum and red onion. Both bhaji and somosa were tasteful. The main dishes we chose were chicken vindaloo and saltbush bhuna gosht with naan and jeera raita as accompaniments; and basmati rice. The quantity of the dishes was just right, the flavours were subtle yet in abundance and, again, the service was good and friendly despite the restaurant being busy. We recommend this restaurant, which by the way, also serves good Aussie food.
