Description

This newly managed fish and chip shop offers an intriguing mix of dining experiences. While some patrons rave about the fresh, flaky cod and perfectly cooked chips, others have faced setbacks, with issues ranging from undercooked fish to bland savaloys. The ambiance is inviting, blending a trendy vibe with a delightfully varied menu, including gluten-free options. Although the prices have risen alongside those of competing shops, many argue the quality justifies the cost. With friendly service and a mix of hits and misses, this eatery remains a popular choice for fish and chip aficionados in the area.

This takeaway is inconsistent and overpriced compared to nearby Britannia Fish Bar. The portion sizes are disappointing, with my plaice being tiny and my husband's skate wing being too large. We paid £33 for this meal, which was not worth it. We would be willing to pay more if the portion sizes were consistent. I hope the owners take feedback from their customers and make improvements.

I ordered the regular cod and chips and must say that the fish was excellent - flakey and perfectly white, served with great chips. However, I would not recommend ordering the savaloy or sausages. The savaloy was warm, bland, and white inside, resembling chicken rather than a proper savaloy. I sent it back and had it replaced with a sausage in batter, which again turned out to be chicken instead of pork.

Went for a dinner with my partner, we booked at short notice but there was ample space, so that was good. However, my haddock batter was extremely soggy in places, I mentioned this to the waitress she replied oh, you’re not the first to say this and then walked off. Charming. In addition to this, my partner wanted fries instead of chips, we were charged an extra £1 for this. Really? They’re the same price on the menu, yet we had to pay extra. Unbelievable. Again, I mentioned this to waitress and she replied well, they cost more . In the end we just paid and left, it was thoroughly disappointing, we’re regulars for takeaway, we’re now contemplating somewhere different for the first time in years as it was such an awful experience dining in.

I placed a order via the app. I got got a phone call from the owner asking if i had placed a order . I told yes and he then said because i had left a negative review a year ago after they delivered the wrong item i am banned I find it very pity and pathetic that a restaurant can not take valid criticism. If the wrong item that was sent a year previously they had fixed the issue in a polite way i would not have left a negative review but to correct that issue i had to wait four hours and only got it sorted because i called three times. Having no drink with the meal and waiting four hours and being told. I think reviews inc negative reviews should be welcomed as a way to improve service. Also before the coke i bought a milkshake that although within date was off. I called them and they told me, not our problem. I ended up getting a refund from the company who made the milkshake as they told me there was a defect with the bottle. I never left q negative review even though they were rude by telling me not their problem. But after the coke was delivered instead of a diet coke i left a negative review as they at the time lied to me on the phone three time. Clearly very thin skinned so if you order and sonething goes wrong do not expect them to give a toss. Also if you leave a fair negative review expect to be banned even if you were in the right. I was a loyal regular customer but clearly they do not care. A company that can not accept criticism for mistakes they make is not a good company.

Best fish and chip shop in waterlooville and surrounding areas. Do visit here quite regularly and have always had a good meal.
