**Restaurant Review: A Mixed Experience at Emperor's Kitchen** Emperor's Kitchen in Cannington offers a pleasant atmosphere and commendable service, but the food leaves much to be desired. Dishes like fried rice and sweet and sour pork fell flat, sparking disappointment among diners. The limited dim sum menu and sluggish service further detracted from the experience, as did supply issues and miscommunication regarding orders. While some patrons rave about their meals and prompt delivery, others highlight issues such as unfulfilled requests and lackluster management responses. For now, diners might find more satisfaction at the Leeming location, where the quality still seems to shine.
The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and the service is commendable. However, the food needs significant improvement. The fried rice was rather ordinary and seemed undercooked. The sweet and sour pork was acceptable, but the other pork dishes had too much sauce and didn't appear to be stir-fried thoroughly. The price per person is around $40–60. Overall, I would rate the food a 1, service a 4, and atmosphere a 3.
We arrived this morning when the restaurant was still empty, so it was easy to get a table. The service was friendly and straightforward. All the dim sum we ordered was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be coming back! Service: Dine-in Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $1–20
--- If you're looking for a Chinese restaurant, here's my experience: - Meal type: Lunch - Price per person: $80–100 - Food: 4/5 - Service: 3/5 - Atmosphere: 2/5 The food was quite good, but the service was average. The atmosphere, however, left much to be desired.
Remember how excited I was to try Emperor's Kitchen in Cannington after loving their Leeming location? Turns out, excitement quickly curdled into disappointment. Maybe it was a post-Covid hiccup, but this place felt like a pale shadow of its dim sum greatness. First, the menu. It was like someone shrank it in the wash! Half the size, half the fun. Gone were my beloved pan fried dumplings (sob! , leaving only the deep-fried squid tentacles to hold the fort. While the food itself was decent, the limited selection left me feeling hangry for more. Then there was the service. Imagine a dim sum experience without trolleys merrily rolling by, tempting you with their delicious cargo. Yeah, that's what we got. One measly visit by the trolley at the start, then radio silence for the rest of our half-hour stay. We practically needed megaphones to summon staff whenever we craved something. Speaking of summoning, our tea mysteriously vanished after a staff member whisked away the teapot. Turns out, they weren't refilling it, just taking it elsewhere. So there we were, high and dry, with no further libations. To add insult to injury, the cashier casually charged us for the non-existent tea and shrugged off our concerns. Talk about a thirst trap! Look, I'm all for efficiency, but this felt more like a cattle prod than a dim sum experience. It seems like their strategy is to get you in, feed you quickly, and shove you out the door – not exactly how I want to spend my precious weekend brunch. So, will I be back? Absolutely not. My dim sum fix will be sought elsewhere, preferably at Emperor's Kitchen Leeming where, hopefully, the magic hasn't disappeared. As for Cannington, they've got some serious work to do if they want to reclaim their dim sum crown. Until then, my advice is to steer clear unless you're okay with a limited menu, absent trolleys, and phantom teapots. You've been warned! I also just remembered that there was peanuts in the chicken feet dish. Luckily I didn't have any otherwise I might have had to make a mad dash to the local hospital. Parking: Simply use the Westfield Carousel parking and walk over.
