Blu Ginger offers a unique dining experience with a pleasant industrial decor and spacious layout that sets it apart from typical Indian restaurants. The service, while a bit sparse, was friendly and efficient. The Multani Chicken and Lamb Rogan Josh were flavorful but milder than expected, with self-restraint in the use of spices. The butter naan was cooked to perfection. While the food and service were commendable, the state of the bathroom was a disappointing aspect of the visit. Overall, Blu Ginger provides slightly above-average Indian cuisine at slightly above-average prices in Civic. The restaurant caters well to vegetarians and offers delicious fusion dishes. It is a great place for friends to enjoy a meal together. Authentic Indian flavors shine through in dishes like black dal, onion bhajjis, and veg snacks platter. The staff is welcoming and attentive, providing a delightful dining experience. Guests can expect large portions of succulent, flavorful dishes at reasonable prices. A must-visit for those who appreciate authentic Indian cuisine without added sugar.
As an Indian vegetarian, I found this place a perfect one. The onion bhajjis and veg snacks platter were amazing (not to forget the superb mint sauce). The black dal I ordered was also good but kadai paneer could've been better. Basmati rice and plain naan were tasty. Overall, I was delighted to find an authentic Indian cuisine being cooked by them. I would highly recommend this place to Indian vegetarians.
Well the reviews are right, the curry was fantastic, lots of flavour with out too much salt and the food was matched by sensational service. Highly recommended for your Indian fix.
Our first impressions of Blu Ginger were excellent - high ceilings, pleasant industrial decor and with plenty of space. This really is quite different to your typical neighbourhood Indian joint. The service for our Sunday lunch was a little sparse; only a couple of wait staff for the whole restaurant. However, the staff were friendly and we weren't kept waiting too long. The Multani Chicken and Lamb Rogan Josh were presented nicely and with decent serving sizes. While both dishes were classified as medium on the menu, they were both disappointingly mild. Yet the flavours are there. Fresh tomatoes dominate the Rogan Josh. Both were quite good and we appreciated the self-restraint when it came to spices - neither dish was too rich or heavy. The Butter Naan was cooked perfectly. Soft and buttery with a pleasant light charring from the tandoor. The only true criticism I can make of Blu Ginger wasn't the food or the service, it was the bathroom. Absolutely disgusting! Usually I wouldn't make a point of this, but it was exceptionally unpleasant and needs to be mentioned. Blu Ginger was a pleasant experience overall. Slightly above-average prices for a slightly above-average Indian restaurant in the heart of Civic. Definitely worth consideration when looking for a nice meal in the area.
I have been to BluGinger in Canberra many times and I can say that it is The best Indian restaurant in Canberra. They can never go wrong!!!!!!Multani chicken and Goat curry are my favorites.....
Liturally the BEST Indian restaurant in Canberra! The food is always amazing, the service is always slow however the food is worth the wait and casual pace of the staff. I wouldn't recommend going if you are in a rush! The restaurant is also extremely loud, however if you are wanting a really amazing Indian you can not go wrong, i wish there was a restaurant in Gungahlin!
