Yeah, it's so bad! Zurich is not just known for large table service, but this place takes it to a completely new level. Deep! The first time we visited and sat right next to the door, the waitress just didn't... any announcement despite the Waving and call to them. Needless to say after about 10 minutes, we just left without order. The second time we left, the guy took the order. Then forget the order. Then only half of the order came. Then the rest of it. Go right across to the corner shop in Idaplatz, get a beer and sit on the square, instead you have a more pleasant experience.

I stopped by this small, frien... read more The Berta Bar in located across the street from Idaplatz and can be accessed with public transit (Tram #2/#3 Lochergut, Bus #72). I stopped by this small, friendly, cozy bar in the early evening, so Idaplatz was not too busy with families at this time...and the construction going on in the street in front of the bar was winding down. Inside the Berta Bar is a bar with several stools, some tables, and padded seating with tables and chairs. The sidewalk seating consists of about four round tables and three long picnic benches. I tried an Orion beer from the tap and after my first sip the bartender asked if the beer was okay and it was indeed. They also offer some light snacks for purchase as well. The beer was refreshing, the bartender was nice and the restrooms were clean. I would visit again.

It's not a loud place, just right for sitting and having a chat and an excellent caparinha or three (but it's also perfectly acceptable just to have a coffee and...read the paper). It can also be rented out for functions- we had a joint birthday party here last year and it was the perfect size and atmosphere for about 40 people. Staff were great and accommodating of all our needs.
