Beautiful modern alm. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was lovely, sachertorte, cherry cake, west, buttermilk. Great play area with table tennis, racetrack, small toys and go karts and trampoline. 9 year old thought it was the best alm ever. Kept him busy while we have a nice relaxing coffee with fabulous views. View all feedback.
What Maxime Guignard doesn't like about Schmiedhofalm Alpenrestaurant:
The building is very nice and the food is better than in other mountain restaurants BUT the food is delivered when it suits the kitchen not when it suits the guests. We just ordered two hot chocolates with cream. it wasn't hot, it wasn't delicious and it wasn't sweet. they do not even mix the hot chocolate correctly and consequently had the drink clumping of hot chocolate powder. Add insult... it was 4,9...euros... per cup. they have to make themselves young. I gave it 2/10 because it was amazing. would we visit again. no

Lunch was delivered in 3 instalments and the staff didn’t seem to care that’s the way the kitchen does it, we were told. It all made for a very unpleasant lunch even though the food itself was good This is simply not good enough. A basic rule of running any restaurant is that the staff attempt to deliver all the food for each course at the same time to each guest. Whilst this is not always possible, it should at least be the goal
Architecture and kulinarik contributes both to the alpenflair. so seen, the small farm is the only real experience when it comes to almhütten. in winter anyway a hotspot of the ski-driven sociality, the small farm is also worth every step of the (short) foot march in summer. and even actual, which can not only look like that, but also what. who believes that a fish has lost nothing at the mountain, let the chef grill a salmon trout and mare!Everything in everything the perfect hut, and who does not find it, is his own fault!

We took the Schmittenhöhe lift up to the peak and asked about when the lifts were closing. We then desided to walk to the next open liftstation Sonnkogelbahn and take that lift back down to Zell am See. Suddenly the weather became much worse with fog and rain. The sight completely disappeared. We struggled further and after some problems with asthma and a torn knee we arrived almost according to plan. Only to discover that the lift closed 30 min earlier they they told us! During a temporary improvement we saw Schmiedhof Alm far away. Of course it was closed, but half an hour later Aldo drove us down in his van and saved us more than 2 hours walking! And he only wanted a Thank you. Unbelivable how lucky we were that he decided to work over just that evening! And the Alm locked very appealing. Light and airy. A very successful blend of traditional and modern design.
