Vips - Zacatecas

The other night I ordered Arrachera Norteña, that's skirt steak Northern style. They served me a paper thin slab of meat that was 20% gristle. I lived in the North and never saw anything like this. Arrachera shouldn't have any gristle at all. The way it's served up North in Saltillo is in fairly narrow strips that are maybe only 1/4 thick. The waitress took it back and came back and the manager came back out with a raw piece, it looked like it had gristle too and I pointed it out. He asked if I'd like to try a different cut. I chose a different cut and when they brought it out, it was cooked to perfection and free of gristle. Shortly after, the head cook came how and asked how the steak was. I told her perfect and thanked her. This is kind of a Denny's or Shoney's or Frisch's style restaurant that had a large selection of Mexican dishes plus a few American favorites in a town that does not get a steady stream of Americans. The place is kept spotless and the food is mostly quite good except I'd rate it a bit overpriced for what you get. Depending on your preferences, a dinner tab will go from $8.00 to $25.00. There are other restaurants that do better for the price but don't have the feel of a US mid price chain restaurant. The only reason I don't rate it excellent is that they very often have duds on the ever changing menu and food sent from Mexico City.

No hay mucho que decir, la comida no tiene sabor, el café parece agua de calcetín, los platos son clásicos de cafetería pero nada innovadores. Es un lugar seguro donde sabes lo que vas a comer, con buena higiene, limpio y con variedad para todos. Sin embargo, los domingos por la mañana se llena mucho y el servicio se vuelve un poco caótico, por lo que no lo recomendaría. Desde que Alsea los compró, siento que los precios han subido y ya no es tan económico ir.

El servicio de la mesera Gloria fue terrible, con una actitud desagradable. Estuvimos un buen rato sin café y una señora que limpiaba las mesas amablemente se ofreció a servirnos. Cuando llegó la mesera prepotente a reprenderla. Una imagen lamentable de esta mujer para el servicio al cliente. ¿Quién se cree que es? A todos los viajeros, tengan cuidado.

Se pueden armar paquetes de comidas. Aparte pedí un postre, costo casi $100 y no tiene nada de excepcional, es demasiado dulce, parece que tiene lechera.

La comida es variada y sabrosa. Ofrecen diferentes combos que abaratan el costo de la comida, que de todas formas no es elevado. El servicio es ágil y las meseras muy amables.
