Stopped in twice for dinner during the National Skydiving championships. First time (late dinner) the place was packed but the food kept coming and was of a great standard and the staff member on the floor was a little stressed. Second time we went early. The food was of equal quality but the staff were more relaxed. The busy time was to come later that evening. Would recommend this place for a good meal in York View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Golden York Chinese Restaurant:
Went in to order (after checking out menu outside) but was told that to eat in was more expensive. $19.50 for chicken and vegetables and $8 for a small soup at a chinese restaurant is expensive. Also listening to a few phone orders whilst we were waiting to order - "sorry we have run out of that" - went down the road to the pub to eat View all feedback.
There were three other tables occupied when we arrived at the restaurant this evening. We explained that we were vegan and asked if we could have, for example, the tofu with satay sauce instead of oyster sauce and a plate of lettuce as well as...a bowl of rice. The answer was a rude no. The kitchen was apparently very busy. We won't be going back. York deserves more professional service.
We have dined at this restaurant twice now and both times we were extremely pleased with the delicious food. The flavors were exceptional without an overwhelming amount of MSG. However, we did have an issue with being overcharged during our second visit, which we only realized upon reviewing our bill the following day (we should have double-checked the price at the time of paying). Despite this, the service was fantastic and the quality of the food was top-notch. We will definitely be returning in the future.
The price of the kwey teow was expensive, and it only had onions in it. Additionally, there was a long wait for the food to be served. The service was disappointing, as even the entitled server seemed smug.
The lamb satay sauce was delicious, as well as the chicken with seasonal vegetables. The rice was cooked perfectly. The service was polite and efficient. I was very happy with my experience and will most likely return on my next trip.
Ordered T/A then decided to have in after paying. They wanted to charge an extra with no service. Wouldn't even give us plastic forks to eat with. Never in my life have I experienced this. DON'T eat there. The food was so salty couldn't...eat it anyway
