What simon becker doesn't like about The Royal Oak:
Shockingly bad! Went in for a drink today and ordered a pint of hobgoblin. It was like vinegar. Clearly nobody in control of managing the beer pumps! When I politely complained both members of staff totally ignored me and continued to serve other customers. They just ran and hid! After another 15 minutes of standing at the bar like a lemon I complained again and was accused of being aggressive (easy way out tactics f... View all feedback.
Absolutely loved our meal tonight the portions were huge! we had a steak and ale-Pie with many chips and the choice of the heap! husband has torn off every bit. I ordered toad in the hole, I couldn't finish it! absolute value for money. good pub. good food if yr first call in or a regular customer I highly recommend. also as to say the dame behind the bar was very friendly and attentive we will be back. !
Yesterday we called to the midday square and were greeted by the owners who were very friendly. tell us a little story about the beautiful old bar while we waited for our food. home cooked eating was beautiful and very generously portioned I had scampi hubby had steak pie. there were about 15 pieces of scampi and the torte was filled with steak. will be there again next time. oh and dogs are also welcome and even get a tasty x
I knew there was a dog-friendly pub, but I didn't expect my dog to be made as welcome as she was and treated as if she was as important as us! She was fed dog biscuits and was given with much love a bowl of water! highly recommended
Always a friendly welcome here, best place for decent pub grub
This is a very friendly hotel and pub. We stayed for 3 nights in a comfortable room with our dog Sidney and he was made to feel welcome too. He even had sausages for breakfast! Our breakfast was also most satisfying and set us up nicely for the day. Our hosts genuinely cared about our stay and loved our doggy. Yes we will be back here :
