that was my first visit to the raiway museum. we had a fabulous day and will definitely come back. my wife was often with her children before being very young and now in her 20s they still love it. it is an amazing place for young and old at any time. only regret was the flying scotsman not there. What trsfr doesn't like about National Railway Museum:
The trains are great to see, though I would have liked to have seen more of the interiors. The other exhibits were a complete jumble to be honest. No idea what we were looking at. The cafe is a disgrace, paper cups, terrible coffee and ridiculously priced. All in all, I was glad it was free, think I would have been even more disappointed had we paid. We didn't stay long. Absolutely fantastic, they think it's all done, then they go into another wardrobe full of history and technology so well designed and explained, clean, many places to eat and drink. and friendly staff . it's a must. well done york.
This is a fascinating place to visit, also for non-husiasts like me! so much history to see. worth a visit.
Amazing, also loved the little things, not only the moves. the model trains, statues, signs and so on. the catalogue numbers in the afford to see is a plus. pour about four hours in the museum, happy, have donated a few pounds.
Unforgettable day brought back many happy memories from my trainspotting days in the late 50s 60s. My wife and I have visited N.R.M many times and will hopefully will do so for as long as we are able. Thanks to all who Volunteer and Work at The Museum much appreciated. Hope to visit again soon.
