This isn't a large bed and breakfast—just a cozy place with only four rooms in the main building and one cabin outside. The owners are friendly and provide helpful suggestions on things to do and places to eat. I really like the homely atmosphere of the place; it feels warm and inviting. The small common lounge is very comfortable, and there's a breakfast nook where you can find tea, coffee, a microwave, and a mini-fridge. Our room was basic but comfortable, featuring twin beds and an ensuite bathroom. Just a heads up: the water pressure in the shower is low, so be prepared to take your time. The hot water can also take a while to come through, especially if other guests are using the bathrooms. I believe the rooms on the second floor share a common bathroom, so it's wise to check which room you're booking. The best room is on the ground floor; it's larger and comes with a private deck and ensuite, allowing for immediate access to view the lights. A highlight of the B&B is the ability to order breakfast from the main menu of Dancing Moose Cafe. The food was delicious! Unfortunately, I only got to enjoy it once since the café was closed on Christmas and Boxing Day. On those days, breakfast was a buffet with options like toast, eggs, bacon or ham, sausages, and fruits. On our last day, we received a packed breakfast with a cinnamon bun (which was delightful when heated) and juice, as we had to be at the airport by 5 am. I highly recommend this place for catching the northern lights. In the summer, when Great Slave Lake isn't frozen, you can see it from the backyard as well. Air Tindi, which operates float planes, is right across from the B&B. We even took a short walk (about an hour) on the frozen lake to the Snowking area, which was a nice experience. This place would easily earn five stars if they could improve the water pressure in the shower.
I made a reservation through Booking.com for December 2017. However, when a scheduling conflict came up, I canceled my reservation directly with Bayside in July 2017. Debbie from Bayside replied, thanking me for the notice. Despite that, they still charged me $313 because I didn’t cancel through Booking.com. They reported me as a no-show to Booking.com. I'm planning to visit Yellowknife in December 2018, but I will definitely avoid this place.
