Contribute FeedbackMy husband and I visited this restaurant in early November 2009. It is located quite far from the city center, taking us about 45 minutes by taxi from South Gate. The restaurant is a bit difficult to find, but luckily our hostel called ahead and provided us with directions in Chinese. The building is large and includes a tea room, yoga center, and other facilities. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, with a large menu that includes pictures and English descriptions of each dish. The servers were friendly but a bit pushy, not allowing us much time to look at the menu before recommending dishes to us. We ended up ordering two dishes they recommended (sweet and sour pork and a vegetable stock pot) as well as a braised eggplant with taro. Unfortunately, the drinks they convinced my husband to order turned out to be yogurt drinks, which was a waste for me as a vegan. The dishes the server recommended came out quickly, while the other dish took longer to arrive. None of the dishes were particularly impressive, with the sweet and sour pork being over-fried and the vegetable stock pot containing milk not mentioned on the menu. The braised eggplant was not as described and overall, the experience was disappointing. Our meal for two came to about 120 rmb, but 40 of that was for the yogurt drinks we didn't enjoy. Despite our disappointment, we acknowledge that other dishes at the restaurant may be better.
The servers were friendly but a bit pushy, not giving us much time to look at the menu before making suggestions. We ended up ordering the sweet and sour pork and a vegetable stockpot that they recommended, as the menu was overwhelming. We also tried the braided eggplant with taro. To our surprise, our server brought us yogurt drinks without us asking, which we did not enjoy. The recommended dishes arrived quickly, but the other dish took much longer. Unfortunately, none of the dishes were particularly impressive. The sweet and sour pork was decent, but over-fried, and the vegetable pot contained milk, which was not indicated on the menu. The braided eggplant was disappointing, as it was essentially taro dumplings with a small amount of eggplant filling. Overall, our experience cost us 120 rmb for two people, with 40 rmb spent on the yogurt drinks. The whole experience was underwhelming, but perhaps other dishes on the menu would be better.
We visited this restaurant in early November 2009. It is located quite far from the city center, about a 45-minute taxi ride from the south gate. It was a bit challenging to find, but luckily our hostel had provided us with instructions in Chinese beforehand. The restaurant is housed in a large building on a corner, which also includes a tea room, yoga center, and other establishments. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with a large menu that includes pictures and English descriptions of each dish. The servers were friendly, although a bit pushy at times and did not give us much time to look at the menu before recommending dishes. We ended up trying the sweet and sour pork and a tasty pot, as suggested by the servers, as the menu was overwhelming and we needed more time to decide. We also ordered the braided aubergine with taro, although my dining partner ended up ordering drinks without my consent. Unfortunately, the yogurt drink he ordered was not suitable for my vegan diet. The dishes that the server recommended arrived quickly, while the other dish took much longer. However, neither of the recommended dishes were particularly impressive – the sweet and sour pork was average, and the tasty pot was overcooked. Additionally, the sweetpot contained milk which was not mentioned on the menu, disappointing me as a vegan. The braided aubergine dish turned out to be a ground taro dumpling with a small amount of aubergine filling, fried and served in a brown sauce. It was decent, but not what we expected. Our meal for two cost about 120 rmb, with 40 rmb spent on the drinks that were hardly touched. Overall, our experience at this restaurant was disappointing, but there may be other dishes on the menu that are better.
