Good food, making the traditional novel. is not expensive for the quality of the food. We enjoyed a lot and the service was very good, but the food was the best. View all feedback.
What cathryn c dislikes about Portitxol:
Lovely looking restaurant but not welcoming and very hurried service. This would not have been a problem if the food had been great but unfortunately it was not! I ordered slow cooked Veal cheek with parmentier potatoes with truffle( sounded delicious! unfortunately, what arrived was tiny little veal shavings on a bed of sloppy mash potato... such a disappointment!!! Spanish/Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist. 20 different types of croquetas caseras, the best we’ve ever had! Great to start with. The rest of the card offers a large variety in meat and fish dishes and some vegetarian. All prepared in a surprising way. This also applies to the deserts. Great coffee and wine by the way. Daily menu for around 15€. Staff is very welcoming and efficient. The ambiance of the restaurant warm and modern in a beautifully renovated building.

Hey ho, there are plenty of superb restaurants to choose from in Javea.
Enjoyed a light supper with three courses. Starting with the mixed croquetas (6) each of which were lovely and distinctive. We then enjoyed a thoroughly original artichoke dish with mushrooms and smoked fish. Last, we had a rice bowl with mixed seafood and flaked fish, also scrumptious. For desert we tried something completely different: a pumpkin moussse pie with chocolate glaze. Exceptional! Great service, nice atmosphere and comfortable seating. It was a bit noisy but we contributed to that in conversation with adjacent tables. Great local spot!
Had lunch with my daughter and really enjoyed the food, service, value and atmosphere. The menu del dia was excellent and offered a good choice of dishes.
With our first two choices of restaurant being fully booked and having been here at the end of last year and had a wonderful experience, we decided to revisit. Now I understand why the other places were fully booked and this place had tables in abundance. At a time when so many restaurants are trying to re-establish themselves after being closed due to Covid-19 one would have thought that an effort would be made to endear their establishment to clients rather than alienate them. Obviously Restaurante Portitxol does not subscribe to that particular marketing strategy. The quality of the food is still very good indeed but the portion sizes have reduced considerably and the prices increased. The ratio of price to value is now not impressive at all, in fact some may say it is unreasonable. If the proprietors see a need to make up for lost ground and recover fixed costs incurred whilst income was zero, possibly hitting the pockets and the stomachs of the clients who do dine there is not the best plan. There are now seven people who live locally who will neither return nor recommend. The service was sporadic, disinterested and inefficient; one of us had his meal delivered incorrctly twice and when the correct dish arrived it was not as described and the rest of us had finished eating. To add insult to injury they charged us for the dish he did not have, not the dish that eventually arrived; a difference of €8.00 in their favour. It is a real shame that we had such a bad experience which it seems was due to the frugality of the ownership, as our previous visit had been so wonderful in every respect. Whereas at our last visit the wine list provided sensible and varied offerings, on this occasion having asked for a bottle each of house white and red we were presented with options that cost €17 and €18 respectively; hardly house wine prices and actually didn 't represent good value. All in all not a good experience and having ended my previous review of this restaurant by saying I would return, having returned, my opinion now is that there are too many other, better and less exploitative restaurants in Javea worthy of custom. Finally a warning. The prices on the menu that appear on the website of this restaurant are lower, in some cases significantly so, than those they actually charge now. Maybe the management may read this and redress the situation but at the moment this is the case.
