Moonlight - WOOLWICH
Moonlight
Description
Moonlight Vietnamese Restaurant offers a mixed dining experience marked by both charm and shortcomings. While the ambiance is delightful, featuring soft coverings that create a cozy atmosphere, service issues have arisen post-COVID, including limited staff and unavailable menu items. Guests appreciate the authentic cuisine and the appealing banquet options, though some express disappointment in specific dishes like the papaya salad. The restaurant's BYO policy adds a personal touch, though a lack of operational hours during holidays has drawn criticism. Despite some challenges, Moonlight remains a beloved local spot, with dedicated patrons eager to support its revival.

The mixed entrée plate was definitely the highlight of the meal. While the rest of the dishes were good, they didn't quite reach the same level of excellence. The prices are in line with the area, totaling around $100 for a shared starter, two main courses, and two desserts. The restaurant was busy on a Friday night, so we did experience some delays between courses.
Unfortunately, COVID has significantly impacted this Vietnamese restaurant. On a Friday night, they had no alcohol-free lemonade, no beer, and only two waitstaff. Additionally, there was no vanilla ice cream. The room we were in was very hot and poorly ventilated. This was not the same restaurant we enjoyed 18 months ago. Although we were willing to wait for our food, the rice arrived last, leaving our main courses cold. It's unlikely that we will return unless they improve their service.
The Moonlight is a great Vietnamese Restaurant. The food is lovely and authentic. Highly recommend the banquet for four heaps of food and a great selection what the restaurant offers. It is BYO wine. One very attractive feature of this restaurant is that it has sound suppressing soft covering on the walls making it quiet and cozy. Parking in the area is limited with the many other adjacent establishments attracting lots of patrons.
The staff is friendly, and the food is quite good. You can also order dessert as well as coffee or tea. It's a BYO establishment, so feel free to bring your own beer or wine. I dined in for dinner, and the meal cost over A$200 per person.
