Riley St Garage is a former big garage turned into a big bar and restaurant. It must have been a bad night because our party was invisible to the staff. When we did order they forgot the order for half the table. So the vegan people ate the others didn't.
We didn't initially plan on coming here for lunch, but because we were in the area (and had previously been recommended by word of mouth) we thought "why not".The exterior is something you would not expect. I'm told it's a converted garage shop. Nevertheless, you wouldn't know what was inside unless you stepped in. But when you step inside, brace yourself for the beautiful, homely, rustic, cabin/lodge-like feel.We really didn't know what to expect so we opted for the $75 banquet which came with a series of 8 or so dishes. First was some deliciously marinated oysters served in a magnificent box of ice. From the very first dish I was mesmerised. The presentation was off-the-top but stunning. What follows is variety of hits and misses (mostly hits) but all very tasty nevertheless. We have some liver parfait, beef carpaccio (served immaculately), corn dogs (it's better and more aesthetically pleasing than the ones you get at carnivals), a spin on fish and chips (salmon). The penultimate dish is perfectly cooked chicken served alongside some smooth garlic potato mash and the most moist brussell sprouts I have ever had.And to top of the experience, the last dish of the banquet is a platter of dessert consisting of creme brule, mango sorbet, and apple pie crumble....all served beautifully in a box of ice.But what really made my experience memorable were the cocktails. I highly recommend the Toffee Apple Cobbler Cocktail which is in essence an apple pie cocktail. It truly is probably the best cocktail I've ever had. With that said, ATTENTION MANAGER: "Would it be possible if you give me the recipe (with measurements) for this cocktail? I'm dying to try this one at home!"
