Description

At a recent visit to a popular fish and chip shop, diners encountered mixed experiences that overshadowed its once-stellar reputation. Many patrons expressed disappointment with unfriendly service, unfulfilled orders, and overcooked dishes. Some highlighted exceptional items like the southern fried chicken and haddock, but others noted issues with excessive fat in takeout meals and a lack of adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols. Despite these setbacks, a few visitors praised the fish and chips as among the best they've tasted, lauding the fresh and crispy batter. Overall, there seems to be inconsistency in both food quality and customer service.

I placed an online click and collect order at this restaurant. Upon arriving at the shop, the staff were very unfriendly. Initially, they didn't include the chips in my order until I showed them my receipt. They then acknowledged the mistake but seemed annoyed. I ended up changing my order, and when I received the chips, they seemed reluctant to give them to me even though I had already paid. The staff member serving me didn't realize I had already paid and I had to show her my order. It would have been appreciated if they had at least smiled, said thank you, or apologized for the error, but none of these gestures were made. Of the three pieces of fish I ordered, only one was decent, the others were overcooked. The chips were average, with a batter that was too crispy and did not stick well. The southern fried chicken was the highlight of the meal.

I recently visited a restaurant that used to be a branch of Stafford Road, where the food was always freshly prepared and delicious, served by friendly staff. I was excited to learn that they had taken over the Newbridge Chippy, which is close to where my parents live, so I decided to try their food. Unfortunately, the service was slow and the staff were rude and unorganized. Other customers who arrived after me received their meals before I did. It was disappointing to see the decline in quality and service. I would recommend going to Peps House or the Stafford Road branch for a better dining experience.

I was very disappointed with my meal this week. We usually order from this fish and chip shop and the food is usually great. However, today's meal was a huge disappointment. The chips were overcooked and seemed like they had been boiled twice, and the southern roasted chicken was very dry and difficult to break apart. I had to throw away half of the chips because they were too hard to eat. The only saving grace was the haddock, which was freshly cooked and tasty.

I ordered two scallops for 1, the server ranked them on the up to 2 until I told her they were advertised for 1. then I had to wait 15 20 minutes until they were cooked. once they were cooked in. a film coated paper bag laid and there were loads of liquid fat drop through the counter how water run from a hahn. she then double-baged it and I took it home, hoping that some of the fat would have absorbed from then. still fat when you come home. Let me go to eat them, never seen so much fat.

Found this chip shop whilst on our bike ride, food was lovely, the mini fish and chips, kebab meat and chips and done burger meal excellent value for money, definitely will go again, staff friendly
