Yan Yan, a local Chinese takeaway, has garnered a range of opinions from diners. While some have praised the generous portions and friendly service, others were dismayed by the quality, citing dishes that were overly salty or greasy and lacking in flavor. Reports of peculiar sauces and overcooked ingredients overshadowed the dining experience for many, leaving them with a sense of disappointment. However, a few patrons highlighted the restaurant's willingness to accommodate special requests, offering a glimmer of hope for vegetarian diners. Despite the inconsistencies, it seems that diners are likely to find better options nearby.

the take away restaurant is absolutely fantastic! I can honestly say that eating is always of excellent quality and the staff is very friendly. I also think that the portion sizes are very good value for money. in my humble opinion this is definitiw 5 stars and worth a visit. View all feedback.

What Ugnuts dislikes about Yan Yan:
This might be the worst Chinese food I've ever had. They seemed to prioritize quantity over quality, as there was a lot of food but it was all very low quality. The dishes were strange and came with a random curry sauce. Overall, not a pleasant experience. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant. View all feedback.

The portions at this restaurant are generous, but the quality is lacking. The chicken balls were overcooked and greasy, and the Singapore chow mein had a curry-like sauce that made it spicy. I don't know many other places to eat in Reading, but Hong Kong City is much better.

While an extensive menu it doesn’t list much variety in vegetarian dishes, however, my friend asked if they could do something with tofu which wasn’t listed, but they were more than happy to do so! They very kindly made us something off menu, and were very helpful with advice on dishes and even amending some others to be vegetarian friendly especially for us. Was quite pleasantly surprised at how accommodating they were considering my previous experience at other Chinese restaurants, helps it being a village community takeaway I think. Even gave us some free spring rolls : for someone who rarely eats Chinese, this was a very pleasant experience, thanks to some very friendly and helpful people and very tasty too. Thank you :

I recently tried a new Chinese takeout restaurant in the area and it was a disappointing experience. It was my first and last time ordering from this place. The food was too salty, the prawns were overcooked, and there was an excessive amount of soy sauce. I had to throw the food away and was extremely disappointed and disgusted by the whole experience. I urge others not to waste their money on this restaurant.

Have ordered a takeaway a couple of times. Although the portions are big the quality isn't always there.
