Moonlight - Wokingham
Moonlight
Description
Nestled in Woodley, this restaurant offers a vibrant atmosphere and a delightful menu featuring Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine. Diners rave about the aromatic dishes, with many praising the attentive staff and cozy ambiance. However, experiences are mixed—some patrons report overcooked items and inconsistent quality, particularly with takeout orders that lack the expected flair. While certain dishes like saag aloo shine, others fall flat in flavor and freshness. Despite its charm, the restaurant struggles with uneven meal presentation and service, leaving some guests craving a more cohesive dining experience. Overall, it presents both promise and pitfalls.
Feedback
I have been using the restaurant's take-out service for about 5 months now, and I have found the overall quality of the food to be quite disappointing. The orders come out very quickly, which suggests that they are not freshly prepared and cooked to order as stated on the menu. When you receive your order, you get exactly what you asked for with no complimentary items like you would normally get at most take-out places in the area, such as a complimentary salad or poppadom. Additionally, the overall quality of the food varies from week to week.
The papad was excellent to start, and the selection of chutney and pickles was also very good. However, the chicken starter was completely overcooked and dry, while the prawns were sweet but lacked flavor. The main course was disappointing as well, with a tasteless dish and overcooked lentils. The only saving grace was the saag aloo, but overall, none of the dishes were seasoned properly. The portion sizes were small compared to other restaurants, and the overall taste was not up to par. Despite being quite expensive, the quality of the food was not worth it. Overall, it was a frustrating and disappointing experience, especially for Indian cuisine in the UK.
I won't go anywhere else. Best indian restaurant in the world. Lovely staff. Fantastic food. Good value
This restaurant in Reading is one of the best Indian restaurants around. The fact that they offer delivery service makes it even more convenient.
Service was slow yet only customers in the restaurant, food was good however rice and onion Bhajis were not as hot as it should be. Left some naan, rice, aloo gobie and chicken to be taken home yet only the chicken and aloo gobie was put in the pot unfortunately didn’t check until I was home. Disappointed that all the food we asked for to be packed up wasn’t. This has put me off coming back.
