I took my mother and daughter to the cafe for Mother's Day afternoon tea. After booking, I received a call from Dobbies to confirm they could accommodate my vegan diet. We were warmly welcomed on the day and shown to our table, which was beautifully set with a tier of sandwiches, scones, and delicious desserts. They even made extra sandwiches for me. We were each given a gift as well. I will definitely be returning s... View all feedback.
What Scene set dislikes about Dobbies Garden Centre:
......I visited Dobbies for plants, primarily, as it’s a garden centre. Good selection of indoor and outdoor plants albeit coming to the end of the season. Not really interested in all of the other spin off non- garden merchandise. Did sign up for the club though where you earn points on spend, so it might well secure my loyalty, but probably not until Spring next year!.

I came for afternoon tea with a friend and a toddler and we had the BEST time. The food was delicious and the presentation was just wonderful. We were looked after beautifully and the experience was a joy.
We were looking for a quiet place to eat, food menu is basic. Food was ok nothing to shout about. The staff seemed uninterested in serving us. Its a café in a garden centre.
It’s a lovely little cafe where you could have a quiet lunch or even just a little sweet thing if you like even if you just want to go for a coffee or tea with a friend. Nothing wrong with the choices they have because it is a small little cafe and still nice to go there.
The restaurant area in Dobbies Garden Centre, Shinfield ... looked fine and there were spare tables so we ordered our afternoon drinks and snacks. The coffees were just about okay but the 2 cakes we chose were far from it. The Chelsea Bun was dry and the iced bun looked like it had had a bite out of it and at £2.95 was over-priced.

Dobbies no longer offers their delicious cream scones, they must be trying to cut costs. When I went to have a coffee there and decided to have a cream scone, I was disappointed to receive something sliced in half and filled with whipped cream and cheap strawberry jam (no other options). It was nothing like their original scones served with clotted cream and individual pots of jam for you to choose from.
We were turned away from the restaurant because we wanted to sit and feed our baby. Despite having a dog with us, the lady rudely insisted that we leave right away. Our baby was in need of feeding and we had hoped for a relaxing visit. Instead, we ended up sitting in the car park on a chair covered in cobwebs to feed the baby. We will not be returning to this restaurant. Employees with such negative attitudes should not be allowed to work in customer service.
Went to Dobbies today the 24th December for our Christmas lunch. The food was on time pipping hot and absolutely delicious. The staff all work extremely hard , we will definitely recommend this cafe to others.
Joined the queue at 11.15, by the time I was at the front I was informed that breakfast was no longer served (stops at 11.30). Had to go back to my table and recollect the orders and joined the back of the queue again. Drinks aren’t delivered to table, so had to wait whilst they were made. Took ages. Now I know why the queue’s so big. Food came quite quickly and was OK. Toastie was decent but the chips were undercooked and there was an eyelash in the coleslaw.. at which point I decided I needed to leave a review. Giving it two stars because portion sizes are good, and was fairly obvious that there’s some new staff who struggled to find their way around a coffee machine.

The restaurant offers a wide range of both indoor and outdoor facilities. Although the café was busy and there were a few mistakes made by the staff, the food was served hot and the coffee was strong! It was the perfect time to visit, as the flowers were absolutely stunning.
At the beginning there is a good parking lot with lots of space. there are many selections of plants and garden sons. the center felt very clean and tidy. the plants were in good condition and looked well maintained.
Dobbies is a great local garden centre with vast range of indoor and outdoor plants with all the equipment and accessories you might ever need for your garden. They have a well stock pet and wild bird section. A large inshore Sainsburys is now available with some great food products. The onsite cafe is well worth a stop to chill or just recover from your shopping experience.
Friendly cheap plants and accessories wide range of plants. small caffe with hot and cold drinks, cakes and small meals.
We always enjoy shopping here because the plants are of excellent quality, and the discounted prices are substantial. Members of the gardening club receive a 10% discount and two free coffees each month. Dobbies truly knows how to please their customers, and the local manager is fantastic and very pleasant. It's always a pleasure to visit. In 2022, there are plans to close and completely rebuild, which should enhance this space! The restaurant is due for an upgrade, and I’m confident that once the entire project is complete, the Henry Street Garden Centre will become a local star attraction.

Had a lovely Breakfast this morning it was spot on Staff were friendly helpful highly recommend lovely little cafe.
I visited Santa this morning at the Reading store, and it was quite a disappointment. Santa arrived late, and they even had our daughter's name incorrect. When Santa finally did show up…
Great selection of garden plants and furniture and lots of other household items and gifts. Good cafeteria area and friendly, helpful staff. :0)
