Was Peter Kennedy at The Herbert Wells a mag?
Very well run Spoons, all on one floor (including the loos! good bar and food service, plenty of seating for groups of all sizes, good mix of punters, family friendly during the day but staff not tolerant of loose children. View all feedback.
What Gavin Shaw dislikes about The Herbert Wells:
Decent size inside with booths, high tables and normal tables around. Staff were okay but the last time we went we were given dirty cutlery which we had to go and change, they had run out of ketchup and the ultimate burger was pretty dry...and disappointing, however they did give a generous portion of chips which is rare! I've been there several times and will likely visit times again. View all feedback.
The atmosphere at the restaurant for the women's World Cup final was fantastic. It was wonderful to see the pub packed and buzzing so early in the day. Although I didn't try the food, it looked delicious as it came out of the kitchen.
The restaurant has excellent brunch options. I tried the smashed avocado crumpets, which were delicious. The service was impressive, especially from Ryan who was friendly and attentive.
This was the first time I've eaten in this Herbert Wells, which is actually a Wetherspoons pub. We went here with family. Great food (I had the classic cod chips, accompanied by breaded scampi while my wife enjoyed her classic stuffed potato). Good pints,...and cosy typical pub atmosphere, where numerous workmen enjoyed ther meal and a pint.
It's hard to find fault with any Wetherspoons pub (although I have tried a few times) because you know what to expect and 99% of the time that's exactly what you get. I haven't tried the food here, as I don't usually eat at Wetherspoons, but the beer selection and quality were good and the staff were friendly. They handled a difficult situation well, removing an unruly customer and moving them outside in a professional manner. Perhaps the staff at the Wetherspoons in Eastbourne could learn a thing or two from them. Overall, everything was great and if I ever find myself in Woking again, I'll definitely be returning here. Good job to the staff at this pub.
