This place is a hidden gem! I come here every summer. I've passed by on my way to camp and have always wanted to try it, but I've been focused on seafood. Today, I finally stopped in!

I arrived as a solo diner and was treated like royalty. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the Christmas dinner was absolutely delicious!

We adored this place when it was located on Route One; it was small and cozy, and the food was fantastic. However, ever since they moved to Winter Harbor, the experience has changed significantly. It's evident that the owner has faced challenges in upgrading to a larger space, which has affected the service and the quality of food for a bigger crowd, especially given the current labor shortages. We often felt that the prices were higher than what the food and experience warranted, but we continued to go because it was the only nice restaurant in the area. It's unfortunate to see them close, but it's not surprising.

The ambiance of the restaurant is stunning and airy, parking is incredibly convenient, and every table offers a great view. We are so grateful they could fit us in on such short notice, and we had a perfect view of the sunset over the water. The chowder was amazing, the Caesar salad was the best I've ever had, the smoked seaboard was inspired, and the lobster mac was just what I needed after a long day of driving. The service was impeccable as well; the dishes were spaced out perfectly, and our entire evening went off without a hitch. A special shout-out to Saltbox! I couldn't help but smile at the table next to us when I overheard a woman ask to hear the dessert menu first before deciding on her meal. It’s clear you have a loyal following of enthusiastic diners. What a memorable dining experience!
