Went for a family Christmas lunch. Was very hesitant to order the steak sandwich as I have not had a good one in ages. To my surprise it was the best one I ever had. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, topped with delicious mushrooms...and had a wonderful side salad. Everyone had a perfect meal. View all feedback.
What Florida Hagenes doesn't like about Nicolino's:
To begin with I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant at night time... however, I found that the staff were intimidating and not very helpful when ordering or when asking questions about the menu. I tried a variety of appetizers that all seemed to be missing flavour. For my main dish I ordered the veal with gnocchi. I was massively disappointed with the dry veal and the tiny amount of gnocchi that ended up on my pla... View all feedback.
Was there with two colleagues and had a great lunch at a reasonable price. Courteous staff members and excellent food. Try it if your in the area.
We had a wonderful dinner at Nicolino's with excellent service. I loved the wild boar dish - as good as I had in Siena, Italy. Our server was knowledgeable about their menu and enthusiastic about the chef. We enjoyed our outside table, especially since the...More

Nicolino's online information looked like it fit the bill, so we arrived there on a Thursday evening after we checked into our hotel. The patio was full and it was bustling inside. Friendly staff greeted us, a table was prepared promptly, and we were given menus. When our server arrived, we asked a few questions about gf options and decided to get Cavatelli (substitute gf pasta)and Salsicce and Branzino (sea bass) and Ratatouille. We ordered water and coffee, which is DeLuca's and staff grind the beans fresh each time they make a pot. Our orders both came with salad with a delicious house dressingWith the lovely weather, the front door open and the buzz of many families and friends gathering for a meal, the atmosphere of the place was enjoyable as we waited for our entrees to arrive, which they did with a flourish. We received grindings of fresh pepper and cheese to enhance our meals.I make my own ratatouille which I love, but NOTHING I've concocted prepared me for the delicious savoury flavours of the roasted vegetables and herbs in my meal. Another gustatory surprise was the sea bass, which I'd never had before. Perfectly cooked, the texture and sweetness of the fish was fabulous. My partner declared his dish to be wonderful, and we ate slowly and loved every bite.We were so happy that we found Nicolino's in Winnipeg. Worth every penny.... Memorable meal!
read moreMy husband and I wanted to take our friends from out of town to a nice restaurant so we searched for a place and came up with this one, it was our first time here and we all enjoyed it.The food was good but pricy. I had Fettucine with prawns and it was a good portion, but my husband and our friend's husband had the lasagna and they said it was good but for $24 it was a very small portion! Our friend had the Ravioli burro salvia and she said it was good as well. Overall it was good.

With one friend we had the Mediterranean chicken pizza and chèvre salad. Both were great and the red wine promotion was very good. The second visit with another friend was much different. I drank the house wine which was, well house wine, and not particularly enjoyable. We tried the crostini wild boar for an appetizer. The taste and texture reminded be of beef short ribs. The flavour was robust and the highlight of the meal. The cosimo pizza on gluten free crust seemed halfhearted. The toppings were scarce and it was quite flavourless. The cavetelli was straightforward. Our meals came with side salads, garden and Caesar and neither were noteworthy of lettuce or dressing. The service was friendly on both occasions and parking is ample.
