I had the pleasure of dining at the Village Square in the historic town of Winchester for my birthday dinner. It is the only restaurant in the area that I would consider to be high-end. View all feedback.

We must have picked up a bad night. We arrived without reservations and were sitting immediately and greeted nicely from the waiter and busboy. We ordered the salmon/sticked crab and Cioppino. We must have picked up a bad night. We arrived without reservations and were sitting immediately and greeted nicely from the waiter and busboy. We ordered the salmon/sticked crab and Cioppino. We waited about an hour for our meals to arrive, and they were not hot – nice, best. My wife's salmon looked good, though only warm. I expected more substance with the Cioppino. It was thin and without seafood. The waiter was apologetic and was just as a victim of kitchen substaffing/problems as we do. He gave us a free dessert and coffee, and his positive attitude saved the day. There are many restaurants in this area, and it will be awhile before we try Village Square again.
Great food, well seasoned. Service was great, our waitress was very attentive. The dessert was tasty and delicious. Very upscale environment, quiet and relaxing. Scallops Rockefeller were 5/5. Lach was delicious
Quality of food varies at the top of the scale. Excellent Martinis and strawberry shortcake is killer. Some of the more interesting animal worlds that can be found in Winchester when you are a human monitor like me.
We enjoyed our late dinner in this beautiful historical restaurant serving excellent food. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, both for the selection of our meals and tell us about the restaurant. We used our GPS to lead us to this city centre. The last part of the trip was difficult to find the restaurant. We seemed to be in a alley behind the restaurant. We couldn't find that the entrance that was hidden from sight shows that it was an entrance. We finally went to the front entrance, which was directly adjacent to a pub. A posted menu on a front fence marks the entrance. In the dark it was difficult to find the entrance. All our meal was delicious. I wanted to order Dessert Cobbler, but the ice cream that was supposed to be served above had run out. I changed to the key lime cake, which was unique and tasty. We were served generous portions of dessert. We brought home with us. I would eat here again for special occasions. It was a bit expensive, but this area is within an hour from Washington, DC. So it is a place for people working in DC to live away from the crowded areas of DC and North Virginia.
Happy hour in a lovely atmosphere with delicious food and craft cocktails! Did I say $1.00 oysters during Happy Hour? ?Food: 5/5
