Most enjoyable Sunday lunch, excellent service from well trained staff. Friendly atmosphere a good buzz about the place. Popular with families. Seating outside when the weather permits. I thoroughly recommend this establishment one and all. View all feedback.
What DaveyB1962 doesn't like about Bolingbroke Arms:
They used to serve quite good food but not any more. It us a particular shame that they have taken baked Camembert off the starters Service still excellent but food needs to get back to its old level to entice me back View all feedback.
We did not make a reservation, the restaurant was busy. It turned out there was a Wake taking place at the venue, so it was very crowded. The food was good, with typical pub grub and generous portions.
The main courses at this restaurant were very delicious, especially the special of the day which was a Monkfish and Prawn Red Thai curry - it was absolutely delicious! All of the meals we ordered were flavorful and generous portions, and the staff was very attentive as well.
Please see the comments under the hotel Steak uneatable no replacement offered no discount for an unedible meal. Would l go back NO
It's a real shame as our family had visited in the past and very highly rated the experience. Unfortunately on our visit we were seated in uncomfortable chairs with a potentially lovely view of the countryside had it not been for the amount of rubbish and clutter scattered throughout the garden including broken gutters and a disused petrol can. The service was lackluster and the serving staff would benefit from some level of training. My drink arrived and was placed on the far end of the table with no effort made at all to give it to me. The wait for food was longer than expected but appreciate good food can take some time to prepare and cook. The starters arrived and the fried brie was fine, my prawn cocktail again was fine but was served with rock hard butter making it impossible to spread on the accompanying bread. Our Sunday lunch arrived with roast potatoes that clearly weren't cooked any where near long enough and cauliflower cheese so mushy it disintegrated when served. We were only offered 2 sides of vegetables which looked designed for 2 people to share between the 6 of us. Our beef was overdone but we can appreciate you can't tailor to everyone's personal preference. Our issue came from the fact it looked as tho the meat had been presliced some time ago and had started to dry around the edges. When we bought this to our servers attention we were offered no apology at any time and he simply thanked us and took our food back to the kitchen. We explained we didn't want a replacement meal and again no apology offered just a thank you. Very strange service indeed. When I country pub is charging these prices for food you should expect a certain level of quality and service that reflects it, which sadly we did not. With other similar establishments in the area offering significantly better service and food I would highly recommend skipping this place all together.
Stayed here for 5 nights while moving houses, picked at random for location and room price Have to say I wasn’t disappointed and it exceeded my expectations on every level The staff were friendly and helpful, rooms nice and comfortable. The food menu was very traditional but excellent, everything cooked to order from fresh with home made puddings plus good selection beers I would come here to eat anytime, delicious
