I always enjoy slipping out of the fray to Berret's. It's a quick walk behind Market Square to what feels like a calm and cozy spot to take a breath, refresh with a lovely cocktail, and sink in to the freshest seafood available. I've enjoyed everythingI've had here. So have my friends. I wouldn't hesitate to try whatever suits your fancy. The prices are higher but thequality and service leave you confident it was worth it. And then some. Pictured is the Red, Whit, and Blue entree with ablood orange margarita. Enjoy!
So I will start off by saying the pesto crab dip is quite good; very rich and thick and the pita chips that come with it are great. We ordered the Red, White, and Blue Plate and the Blue Plate. To be honest, the entrees were incredibly bland. It seemedlike they wanted the ingredients to speak for themselves, and they did not say much. The crab cake tasted like an old pooltowel. The mashed potatoes were okay; they were sweet which I was not expecting. The bread tasted like pizza crust for somereason. The salmon was bland and boring. The scallops were just scallops, the same with the shrimp. The Oysters Rockefeller taste like a spinach frittata. Maybe it’s because I’m a huge seafood fan, or maybe it’s because the restaurant is inWilliamsburg. I wanted so much to enjoy the food but I was honestly let down.
Consider making a reservation for dining here. We did not have a reservation and we had about a 30 minute wait for a table in the bar area. All of the entrees were very good. We had a daily special tuna steak with shrimp and rice, shrimp two ways withmashed potatoes and mahi with shrimp and potatoes. Very pleased with our dining experience.
Friends referred us to this restaurant saying its amazing. We are so happy we ate here. The atmosphere was festive. While waiting to be seated, we sat outside listening to music on the patio and drinking a beer. The wait staff was very attentive andknowledgeable. The main focus was the food. The presentation of the food was very creative and appealing to the eye. The foodwas very flavorful and delicious. We enjoyed every minute eating it.

Excellent restaurants, been here many times over the years. Food and service are terrific.
Excellent food and service. The crab dip was great but had to ask for extra pita chips (dip serving size was a more than enough for 3 people). I had the yellow fin tuna special (pictured) and wife had the Barramundi fillet and scallops. The creamy rice was also very good.
I loved my experience here. Unfortunately my husband and I failed to make a reservation for indoor seating, but the outside area is nice. I ordered a special with grilled tuna, shrimp, asparagus, and creamy rice. Normally I would order a white wine with fish, but the berry cider I had was perfect!
Berret's is the colonial seafood restaurant that was once a gas station. It has the tavern in town setting with indoor and outdoor seating, excellent food and wonderful service. Cornhole out in front and parking nearby. One member of our party enjoyed the freshest Victory Point oysters and we all shared the appetizer sampler with more oysters. The blue plate with the she crab soup was unlike a blue plate anywhere else, with the meaty crab cake and large grilled shrimp artfully arranged atop a mound of home style mashed potatoes and veggies. The seafood baked in parchment paper is presented table side still steaming from the kitchen. The wild mushrooms with orzo and vegetables is a vegan plate that was a full meal. For dessert I shared a massive slice of carrot cake with the orange cream buttercream and our other diner enjoyed the gluten free ultimate ganache brownie that was gooey and delicious. The restaurant offers gluten free and vegetarian options.

The food was delicious, but the atmosphere could use some improvement. The service was excellent.
Although the service was excellent, the food was good but definitely not worth the high price. The portion sizes were not satisfying for the cost.
The $1 local oysters are an amazing deal, my husband enjoyed 18 of them! Our server, Marnie, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and his service was quick and efficient. The salmon baked in parchment paper was perfectly cooked and very moist. The original blue plate was tasty as well. The She-Crab soup was also excellent.
Delicious food, large quantity servings, nice atmosphere for private talking, outstanding service! Don’t miss this it’s a gem!

They are friendly...the food is fabulous...great atmosphere... and best of all they have dog friendly areas!
We had reservations for 15 to celebrate our daughter's graduation from W&M. The private room and service were wonderful. And the food was even better. Thanks for making it such a great celebration
Excellent crab cakes, the accompanying sautéed squash and zucchini strips were fantastic! Loved the $1 per roasted oysters deal, had 3. Outstanding service and overall satisfaction!
A little bit of a wait to get seated but the food was excellent! Mike our waiter was awesome. He was very attentive.
I give the waiter Mike and the host stand folks for getting us in early along with the food five stars, however the Tap house bartender could use some customer service skills . Did’t seem to want to sell options , maybe she has seen to many tourists however we are local . Great place to dine maybe not for a cocktail ..

We had a reservation for 1:30 PM. Finding parking in the nearby lots was a challenge due to the holiday crowds, so we ended up...
Everything was excellent, from the service to the meal. The bartender was fantastic and offered great recommendations. There was a 25% discount on bottles of wine, and appetizers were just $1...
I visited Williamsburg to check out Tipsy Beans, and after tasting their crab cakes, I felt compelled to explore another well-established restaurant in the 757 area.
The main dish I ordered seafood in parchment paper (flounder, scallops and shrimps) with spinach and pasta was absolutely skurril. And as usual, the crab soup was the best. With such meals Berrets will soon be known as one of the best restaurants in Williamsburg (if not already).
Server was not attentive, forgot to bring things that were asked for one and two times. Filet was not cooked as ordered, grilled shrimp were served raw. We mentioned to server and said we didn’t want additional shrimp but they were brought out anyways, also raw. parchment meal was delicious, oysters were phenomenal and dessert skillet was amazing. Better server would have improved the experience. took 2 hours to have dinner at 430pm and not busy at all.
