I also wanted... read more After an exhilarating, day-long scooter ride (scooter rental at the same location of the restaurant), we wanted to have our first meal in Holland. I also wanted Dutch food. I had my first croquette sandwich. My wife had a great burger. We shared sweet potato fries. My croquette sandwich was very good, and so were the fries. We ate outside on a sunny day with enough shade to stay cool. It was an enjoyable experience in every way. Although we were not there with children, we were impressed by the children's area next to the patio. Families can eat there and then allow children to play freely as adults continue at their tables. The staff was amazing. We had already met Erik, the owner, and found him to be very pleasant. Throughout our time at the restaurant, we were touched by the kindness of Dagmar and Minze, two servers. Minze was kind and helpful as she explained the traditional Dutch foods on the menu, and she offered great service throughout the meal. When we were getting ready to leave, another server, Dagmar, was near our table, and we asked her about less-expensive taxis options (than what we paid to arrive there). Rather than explain every detail, I'll just say that Dagmar went far beyond just giving us helpful information. She made phone calls, researched, and figured out a way for us to pay much less for a taxi. It would not have happened without her help. We were so touched by her acts of kindness! Next time we visit the Netherlands, we will do the Scooter Experience again, and we will eat at Restaurant 1456!
