Went there today for lunch. It is a nice cozy place. The menu has a few options (very meat-oriented) and the owner is very friendly. The waiter was not so and didn't seem comfortable. We ordered classical Zwiebelrostbraten and Schnitzel. These were of average quality. But the marking and overwhelming trait of this lunch was the incredibly strong smell of oil and fat and deep fried stuff... overpowering. My clothes are still smelling of it. Even MacDonald's has a better ventilation system... this spoiled the lunch experience.
My family and I were looking for places to have Christmas dinner while we were in Vienna. Though we did not make a reservation early, we still got some seats, which was fabulous. Reading other reviews made me worry about the food and value for money, but the night couldn't be better. The food served was great, from the traditional schnitzel to the goulash soup, etc. The dessert was excellent as well! Love it!
Had lunch here on a business trip to Vienna. Got immediately served and had great traditional Austrian food. Would definitely recommend for a business lunch
We found this restaurant as it is on the same street as the Hotel Bellevue. It is a contemporary cafe/pub/restaurant serving well prepared Austrian specialties. Very much enjoyed the wiener schnitzel.
While Franz Josefs Bahnhof is just a whisper of a train station, it is not such a bad thing to have to catch a train there, knowing that Gabel & Co is just across the street from it. We went there for lunch before heading to the Wachau wine country, and enjoyed our lunch very much. I ordered a goulash, one of the few items on the menu not accompanied by a G (indicating the presence of dairy, to which I am allergic). It was very enjoyable, rich and moist beef accompanied by the most delicious gravy and those glutenous dumplings that soak up the gravy so well.
