Reviews - Java Villa
Reviews summary
An independent Wichita favorite, this long-running coffee shop serves handcrafted Pacific Northwest–style coffee, housemade bierocks, pies and pastries at budget-friendly prices. The owner’s warm hospitality and cozy, hole-in-the-wall ambiance keep regulars and visitors returning for customized lattes, dairy-free and gluten-free options, and retail beans. Occasional slow service and concerns about cleanliness and mask practices temper otherwise glowing praise, but overall it remains a charming spot for breakfast, quick lunches and quality coffee.

Excellent coffee shop that's been in business for many years. One of the few independently owned coffee places. Great coffee, wonderful pies, very friendly owner. View all feedback.
What Amanda P dislikes about Java Villa:
The prices are reasonable, and the coffee is passable. However, everything I tried was just average. The cleanliness of the place could definitely use some improvement. While it might have bothered me before the pandemic, now it's even more crucial to maintain high standards of hygiene. There was no sign indicating mask requirements, and the barista who prepared our drinks wasn't wearing a mask when we arrived. He pu... View all feedback.

My daughter suggested this café to me, and I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered a 4-shot latte with almond milk, and the espresso was incredibly smooth with no bitterness at all. A big shoutout to the owner for his excellent choice of roasteries and for his welcoming demeanor and great conversational skills. He really knows how to connect with people. I’ll be sure to stop by every time I’m in town. Thank you!
The coffee at Java Villa is exceptional, and when enjoyed alongside their freshly baked goods made right in-house, it offers a remarkable experience. I tried a gingerbread scone that was simply delightful—I'm still impressed by how delicious it was!
The coffee and breakfast dishes at this place are fantastic. I highly recommend it! I also enjoyed the friendly conversation during my visit. Let's support this small business!

I had a fantastic experience at Java Villa! As a visitor, I came across this hidden gem and even had the pleasure of meeting the exceptionally friendly owner. My Americano was just what I was hoping for, and the oatmeal scone was simply delightful.
What an amazing place! The shop had a charming ambiance and a cozy vibe. The owner greeted me warmly and was incredibly friendly. I ordered the four-cheese spinach quiche, a large breakfast bierock, a scone, and a medium latte that the owner customized for me. Everything was absolutely delicious! The bierock was the best I’ve ever tasted, and the generous slice of quiche was bursting with flavor, served with a side of mixed fruit. The latte was perfectly balanced—not too sweet—and had excellent flavor. I also picked up 2.5 pounds of coffee beans that I can’t wait to brew at home! One variety was caramel pecan roll, and the other was organic java espresso. To top it all off, everything was more affordable than I expected; the total was around $20. The service was a bit slow, but that was due to the enjoyable conversation. I definitely plan on returning!
The coffee, frappés, Italian sodas, quiches, and bierocks at this restaurant are fantastic! I also sampled the Kentucky Derby pie, and it was so tasty! My husband is already excited about returning for another bierock; it’s been the main topic of his conversation ever since I treated him to one for lunch.
I love this place! We have been going here for over a year and have loved every experience. There are DF options for milk, I typically get almond milk, and plenty of syrup options for lattes. He also has breakfast bierocks, quiche, and GF pumpkin muffins, all homemade! I recommend this place to anyone!
The coffee was good and the food was great! Everything made from scratch! The prices were awesome! We got 2 coffees, 2 bierocks, and coconut pie for $15! The owner was super cool too and told us stories about where he’s been and what he’s done! Definitely a hole in the wall to stop by!

I visited this restaurant for the first time today and had a fantastic experience. I ordered an iced latte and two original bierocks. The latte was delicious, made with excellent espresso beans. The bierocks were truly the best I've ever tasted, not just in Wichita, but even compared to those at the State Fair. I highly recommend both the coffee and the food. I can't wait to return and try more items from the menu. The owner was incredibly friendly and fun to chat with. I really appreciate his pride in making everything from scratch.
The service at this restaurant is friendly, and the bierocks are amazing! I highly recommend trying the brat-rocks with a touch of hot mustard for a quick lunch. The snickerdoodle coffee is also outstanding!
I've been a loyal customer at Kevin's for 20 years, and I can genuinely say that you won't find better coffee, bierocks, or desserts anywhere in Wichita or even nationwide. Kevin makes everything from scratch, and his apple pie is my absolute favorite. If you're spending time at Starbucks, you're really missing out on a fantastic coffee shop that truly deserves accolades for its Pacific Northwest coffee. I give it a full 5 stars—absolutely five stars!
