Service was great. Food was good. Be careful if you are not used to chiles with heat. It was very, very hot for me. Thank goodness he suggested I have the red and green sauce on the side. View all feedback.
What NorthernNMCritic doesn't like about Jade's Tamales #2:
One of the most over-rated places in Santa Fe. The dining experience here is unremarkable in every way. Every time I eat here either by myself or with friends I think to myself. That was OK, which is damning with faint praise. The food is OK. The value proposition is OK. The service of OK. You won 't go wrong eating here but you really won 't go right either. By the way, The Rodeo Road location has a much better loca... View all feedback.
I'm a Native New Mexican and passing through Santa Fe from fishing. Looked up reviews of New Mexican restaurants and decided to go here based off the reviews. I don't understand the high reviews. The food was mediocre. I got the green chicken tamale pie plate, my husband got the carne asada tacos, my son got the red pork tamale pie plate. First off, my plate was ok, the green chili had no flavor, there was too much masa, the rice had no flavor, and the beans were the best thing of the whole meal. My husband's plate had no flavor, it looked like the meat was boiled, no salt, no seasonings, the salsa tasted like V8 vegetable juice with a hint of red pepper flakes. On the other hand, my son's plate the red pork tamale was better in taste. The red chili was good, the rice bland, no flavor, and the beans good. I should of got red instead. The sopapillas again, had a hint of sugar and did not taste like a sopapilla to me. Maybe I expect too much for my money. Just being honest here.
We heard about this place from friends who visited the area and it was such a highlight. The tamale plate, Christmas style with pozole and beans was incredible.
Absolutely delicious tamales, I had green sauce, and my husband had red. Red was spicier there, but both are so good. We also got sopapillas with our meal, they were delicious. Great price for a lot of food!
If you want to find some good solid tamales, this is your place. Whenever I'm craving some tamales and champurrado in a chilly morning, I automatically think about this place. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. They deserve more reviews. They tend not to be there on rainy mornings. And to leave around 9/10am
Chicken tamales have spicy green sauce and they are delish. Champurrado nice thick and hot. Young man serving nice and friendly!
