Was Lorilei F at Crosswinds a mag?
Lovely lake deck dining. Enjoyed fresh clam chowder, white fish, and Chicken with lime and butter sauce. Fresh veggies of zucchini, and rice pilaf again fresh and delicious. The view was great and the service was good! View all feedback.
What Suzanne D dislikes about Crosswinds:
We visited Crosswinds for dinner during their off-peak season with a large group of 13, and they accommodated us at a table in the back. The menu featured some excellent options, particularly for seafood lovers, which I appreciated. While the wine selection could be improved, they did offer Tanqueray as a spirit option. The salads were incredibly fresh; I enjoyed the strawberry poppyseed dressing while my husband had the blue cheese, both of which were homemade and delicious. They also provided dinner rolls that looked simple but were surprisingly flavorful. For the main course, my husband ordered the pork chops; one was a bit dry, but the other was very good. I had the schnitzel, which was perfectly cooked and topped with an outstanding Mornay sauce. It came with a side of freshly steamed broccoli. Dessert was delightful—just the right portion for two to share after a satisfying meal. The service was excellent as well. When we received the bill, we were pleasantly surprised at how affordable everything was, even though we were aware of the prices beforehand. We will definitely return when we're back in town!
I ordered the cod and chips; the pieces of cod were sizable and the breading was nicely done. The fries were hot, fresh, and crispy. I rated Crosswinds three stars mainly because the service was lacking. Although the restaurant wasn't busy, our waitress was not very attentive. We left the obligatory large party gratuity but I didn't feel inclined to give her any additional tip.
I gave this restaurant 2 stars mainly for the view and the friendly waitstaff. I ordered the New York Strip and shrimp dinner for $24.50. Unfortunately, the steak was thinner than my shoe insert and resembled a piece of leather. It seemed like it had been precooked, frozen, and just reheated in the microwave. The three shrimp I received were clearly from a frozen bag. I had opted for coleslaw instead of the vegetable, but it was served at room temperature. The house salad was just a pile of lettuce with a single cucumber and a few black olives for $24.50, which is outrageous. Our total bill, including a tip, came to just under $100.00, making it a complete waste of money. On a positive note, the hurricane drinks from the bar were excellent. Even if someone offered to cover my meal, I wouldn’t consider returning.
Beautiful view of White Lake but that's about all I liked here. Service was good as well and that's the only reason I am giving it 2 stars. The interior is very dated and the menu is way overpriced for the quality of food. You can tell this is a place that caters to an older generation. My husband and I were some of the youngest in the place (not counting the serving staff) and we are in our late 40s! I ordered the Catfish St James. The filet was good., but for $19 I expected more. A small scoop of rice pilaf (generic, from a food service not homemade) and a small serving of summer squash does not add up. My salad was maybe 4 bites. The bread was dry just plain Italian presliced bread. My his and ordered the fish and chips they were good but he could have had more fries. And he didn't get a salad like the menu stated. I'm surprised this place can stay in business. It wasn't busy at all. And there are places which offer a great updated menu with farm to table foods for the same price! The only reason to come here is for the view of the lake in my opinion.
They were trying but dropped the ball. My Husband and I went here with our kids for our wedding anniversary. We were seated outside. It looks like they hadn't swept the deck seating area all season. But they had a great special menu with $29 filet mignon, crab legs, and stuffed flounder. So It sounded delicious and we looked forward to a great meal. Our food took forever. The kids were getting hungry. When our meals finally arrived, my daughter ordered fried shrimp and fries. It came with two, yes, two shrimp. The rest of our food seemed fine. But we never received drink refills, the waitress barely came to check on us. Disappointed with the service. The place, especially outside could use some cleaning up/sprucing up. I know they seem to be trying. But need some help.
