Die Windpomp - White River
Die Windpomp
Description
Set in a spacious, family-friendly venue with ample parking and a wheelchair ramp, this lively spot is praised for fresh sushi, strong cocktails and regular live music. Outdoor seating, a kids’ play area and a small farm make it ideal for groups and celebrations. Service and cleanliness are generally good, but food quality and portions can be inconsistent, desserts sometimes disappointing, and entertainment can be loud; the play area may have animal odors. Expect higher prices and occasional slow refills.

The desserts here are the best I've had in years! I will definitely be supporting this shop.
Die Windpomp, as the name suggests, really delivers an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend their Pina Coladas and sushi—they're fantastic! There's a wonderful play area for kids and a farm with various healthy and happy animals. However, I advise against sitting near the play area due to the smell from the animals. The restaurant often features live music and bands, and there's plenty of parking available. It’s a great spot for a family outing or a fun evening with friends over drinks and dinner while enjoying the live performances. The atmosphere is lively and vibrant. They also serve a delicious Sunday roast. Definitely worth checking out!
I dined in for lunch and found the overall experience to be a mix of positives and negatives. The price per person was around R300–350, which I felt was reasonable. The food scored a 3 out of 5; it was decent but didn’t quite stand out. The service, however, was a bit disappointing, earning a score of 2. Staff were not as attentive as I would have liked, which affected the experience. On a brighter note, the atmosphere was enjoyable, scoring a 4. The ambiance of the restaurant made for a pleasant setting, adding to the lunch experience. Overall, while there were some highs and lows, the ambiance was the highlight of my visit.
