Super friendly, helpful staff. Clean, very well furnished room and extremely well kept bar, restaurant and garden areas! Highly recommended and will visit again. Great for family's with small children because of the friendly atmosphere. Service: 5

We had walked to the pub from our accommodation looking for something to eat. When we arrived a wedding party was in full swing and we were told that they were taking no more bookings! When we explained our situation. We had travelled a long way and had not eaten since breakfast and were starving! They kindly agreed to make us a burger and chips. Absolute lifesavers : The food itself was delicious and plentiful and the staff could not have been more attentive despite having a large wedding party as well as their regular customers. I would definitely recommend this pub and would return again if in the area. Thank you to all the staff who were working that night and saved us from going hungry : Service: 5

They were clearly too busy with not enough staff. Service was incredibly slow and food was pretty average to be honest. The crab risotto didn't really taste of much and the seafood platter I shared was heavily breadcrumbed and quite dry. My son's burger was yummy however. Not impressed as expensive. Not rushing back. You can tell the chef... read more We are local to the area and this is the best pub in Whitchurch. The quality of the ingredients and the presentation is always top notch. You can tell the chef takes their time creating decadent masterpieces that suit the country style pub and the tastes of the people in the local area. The price reflects the food really well and the atmosphere in the conservatory is calm and cosy. The main bar area can get noisy so if you're looking for a quieter meal book other areas. Since we are local we have not stayed overnight however, from the outside the cabins look relaxing and cosy. They look out onto the garden and the car park is mostly hidden. They appear quite private and are situated to the side of the pub. This may reduce noise from customers. Nearby activities: Whitchurch silk mill with a cafe and duck pond approximately 1½miles away. The Bombay Sapphire distillery (Gin) is within walking distance. Not too far from Winchester town centre, travel along the A34 for approximately 20-30minutes to visit the cathedral or shops. Corner shops in nearby villages as well as bakery's and butchers. Food and drinks are impeccable. Walkability: Near to bus stops which can take you to local towns and villages as well as a 30min walk from the village centre. Food drinks: Food and drinks are impeccable. The pub regularly updates their seasonal menus(unlike most places) with true country pub style meals which often include seasonal game. Burgers are huge and fish dishes always taste fresh.
