Chuck's Roadhouse - Whitby

This was my 2nd time here at this location and will def be my last. I went with a small grp of 9 friends. We didnt have a reservation but other than a couple of other tables occupied, the place wasnt that busy. The mgr stated that we didnt have a reservation and directed the staff NOT to serve us! There was NO indication that a reservation was required any other time we visited or any notification at their entrance. Again the place was not busy at all and there was plenty of space for our small group. We were advised that if our grp split up in diff tables they would serve us but because we joined 2 tables together, they wouldnt serve us! How does that even make sense! So we left and will NOT be returning. Its quite unfortuante as we try to spend our money locally when we dine and ensure staff are tipped well for good service. We went down the road to another Chucks location and they accommodated us without issue, without delay and more importantly without a reservation! Additionally, this location was much busier than the other! Our server was fantastic and I can tell you the Taunton location lost out on $400+ of business tonight and any future business as we get together often! The Victoria location will be getting our business going forward!!

Anyone else notice that the honest to goodness fee at chucks is added your bill...even if you only have a drink? Not like we are looking at a worlds wonder here.. sorry I would prefer an extra dollar added to my glass of wine rather than an extra fee added to my end bill...

After a long day of running errands, I found myself in the north end of Whitby feeling famished. Remembering my positive experiences at Chuck's Roadhouse in the past, I decided to stop by for a meal. This time, I opted for their ½ BBQ Chicken, which was both delicious and generous in portion size. I almost managed to finish it all, but realized I probably should've gone with the ¼ chicken instead. Despite visiting during a quiet time between lunch and dinner, my server provided excellent and attentive service, checking on me frequently. However, my food did take quite a while to arrive, although that may have been due to my hunger making time seem to drag on.

I’ve tried this location a few times now, a couple times dining in, and now curbside takeout due to COVID-19 protocol. Every time I eat their food, it’s OK but it’s nothing special and sometimes I find it disappointing. When I dined in, my corn cob was wrinkly, overcooked, yet cold. And my steak had lots of gristle. My recent visit of last night, where I ordered takeout: 1) website doesn’t take into account the menu of the specific location you’re ordering from: I ordered prime rib sandwich with fries. They phoned me to let me know that even though the website offers the prime rib sandwich as an option, they don’t sell it in their location. But I had selected which restaurant I was ordering from so why doesn’t their online system recognize that that location doesn’t carry the prime rib sandwich? Now I had to select something else and they had to refund me the difference because I had paid online. 2) fries were awful: so I ordered chicken fingers with fries instead. The chicken fingers were good. Tender, real strips of breast meat, in a nice coating. But the fries: I threw them out. They were terrible. They were clearly fried in oil that was dirty and needed to be changed. They stank, they did not taste good. I felt like I might get sick if I ate them, so threw them away. Super disappointed as I had a craving for good fries. The positives are: order was ready quickly, they brought it out to my car, which was nice, and the chicken fingers were good.

The food at this restaurant was tasty, but I was surprised by the additional charges of 3% and 75 cents for hot sauce and BBQ sauce. Overall, I had a good experience but these unexpected fees were disappointing. Goodbye Chuck.
