Contribute FeedbackBlue Sea, a family-run restaurant in Whitby, offers an extensive menu beyond just fish options. While some visitors found the food to be average and service lacking, others praised the delicious halibut and Greek salad. Despite some hiccups, such as inconsistencies in food quality and slow service, the restaurant's cozy atmosphere and well-prepared dishes left many patrons satisfied. The prices were deemed fair for the portions received. The overall consensus seems to lean towards positive dining experiences, with recommendations to try the halibut and chips. Whether seeking a quick meal or a family dinner, Blue Sea offers a pleasant dining experience in a clean and welcoming environment.
This is a great fish and chips place to eat, even at dinner. As great as this gets, this is the kind of place to eat for dinner.
My wife and I were there recently. I would have to say it is just an ok spot, meaning it could be better with a little attention to the details. The food for example was warm at best and not hot. The service was good, no complaints there. I ordered the blackened catfish and unfortunately, it didn't compare to the same dinner I ordered only 2 days earlier in Peterborough. I would go again, but not for some time.
I ordered the halibut fish and chips but it came without a lemon wedge, which was disappointing. The menu was extensive and overwhelming, offering not just fish but also options like chicken, beef, and liver. The restaurant is licensed and serves bottled beer in chilled glasses, which was a nice touch. The coleslaw was not very tangy or crunchy, but the halibut and fries were good. The homemade tartar sauce seemed a bit heavy on the mayo. There was a TV in the corner playing city pulse. Overall, it was a nice and quick meal.
The fish and chips were absolutely fantastic! Everything was homemade! The service was friendly and first rate.
I have been along time customer, but I don't go as often as I would like to due to the high prices, and skimpy portions.
