Was GiseppeGord at Choun's a mag?
We arrived at around 7 PM and were the only customers at the time. The owner came out to present the menu, informing us that they did not have a liquor license, but we were welcome to bring our own drinks. One member of our group went to get some wine. We started with pot stickers and egg rolls, both of which were very good. For our main courses, we ordered Thai fried rice, orange chicken, and broccoli beef. I wouldn... View all feedback.

What Chauncey Rippin dislikes about Choun's:
We made a reservation for 3pm and the restaurant was closed. A lady showed up at 3:15p and told us they were waiting for staff. She said it could take up to half hour. We left at that point. View all feedback.

Great food, great owner, service is hit or miss. Still it's always worth the walk downtown!

Great food cooked with care. Choun is the owner and chef. Coconut shrimp is awesome. She will cook to your request.

Chouns offers a bright, contemporary ambiance featuring a delightful fusion of Thai and American cuisine, showcasing dishes like Pad Thai and Massaman curry. While some diners enjoyed friendly service and fresh, tasty options like the Tom Yum soup, others faced disappointment due to operational inconsistencies, including unexpected closures and staffing issues. Despite these challenges, enthusiastic patrons praised its hidden gem status, delectable flavors, and well-presented meals. The restaurant boasts a gluten-free and dairy-free menu, indicating a thoughtful approach to customer needs. Overall, while some aspects require improvement, many guests are eager to return for more.

I wouldn’t recommend the beef, but the orange chicken was fantastic. The fried rice was average, with not much chicken and limited vegetables. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and would consider coming back or getting takeout in the future.

We visited on a day when the owner had some staff call off, and she managed the entire restaurant on her own, which was quite impressive. The food was excellent and definitely worth the wait. I highly recommend this place—it's a must-visit!

Chouns is our favorite place to go for a quiet dinner in downtown Wheaton. It’s a place to go when you have the time to enjoy your food, wine and company. The food is freshly made by Choun herself while you wait. We have gone several times over the years and never disappointed with the Thai food selection. Like all places right now, they are short on staff-go early or expect dinner to take some time to make and deliver to your table by Choun herself! She cares about her food quality and especially cares about her customers-thanks Choun! If you go to the downtown Wheaton Market, stop by the food truck and get her delicious potstickers!

This restaurant is NOT safe for those with celiac disease. I previously rated it four stars due to their excellent gluten-free options, but I've since realized they need to remove the gluten-free label from their menu. I trusted their assurances, but unfortunately, I became violently ill after eating there. While the food is truly exceptional, I strongly advise anyone with celiac disease to avoid this place. I'm sharing my experience to help others avoid a similar situation. The server confirmed my meal was gluten-free, and I really wish I could get my money back! I rarely write negative reviews, but unless you've experienced the severe repercussions of gluten exposure, it's hard to understand how debilitating it can be. Please remove "gluten-free" from your menu!

Since they cook each meal to order, and use less oil in their dishes, the food tastes light and fresh. It also means this is a sit down restaurant and if you don't want to wait, order take out instead. Either way you'll get a fantastic meal and friendly service.
