1894 At Carbis Bay

Stunning views, afternoon tea was okay but wasn't blown away (which you'd expect for the price). Gin was lovely however table was covered in tea stains and cup rings. Service was okay too but nothing amazing.

One star for the absolutely stunning views. Sadly nothing else matched up. This hotel is quite possible one of the most stunning hotels with the restaurant and views, but it certainly comes with a price tag! We didn’t book a room (thankfully after seeing the price of these! but did stop off for a drink. I initially entered the hotel to ask to see if we could make a reservation for food. I walked up to the bar and was greeted with “You need to wear a mask” and the bar man retreating in horror. I explained I have an exemption and was again greeted with “No you need a mask”. I was so taken aback by this that I decided that actually I probably didn’t want to eat in this restaurant if this is how the staff are. On the way home from the beach my husband and I called into the upper deck for Carbis Bay for a drink. We were greeted and handed a menu and told to take a seat. 25 minutes passed and no order was taken. Staff were walking past as if we were invisible. You also need a bank loan for any drink. I was going to order a cocktail but at £25 decided otherwise, so instead ordered Archers and Lemonade which cost an astonishing £8.50! This was when we eventually got served. Overall, the hotel is stunning, with amazing views, but very overpriced with rude staff.

Absolut let down! I wouldn 't recommend booking for any special occasion! They clearly don 't care about their customers.I booked a table for a birthday celebration couple of months in advance and 3 days before I received an automated message with cancellation of my booking, whichcouldhavebeen easily missed if I haven 't checked my email that day. Not only no one tried to call me and let me know what happened it 's also impossible to get through to them. Calling them does not work as it goes to voice mail and they are very slow to respond your emails. So all I got In the end is we cancelled due to unforseen circumstances and no explanation what so ever so our birthday is ruined because its impossible to get last min booking in st ives.
