Friendly staff, lovely beer, just a real shame about the location not meaning there 's more traffic. I 've just had a 'breakfast ' and I 'm stuffed! The manager offered us a tab, not knowing us from Adam. A good choice of beers, usually I have a problem getting a dark one. There should be more people here, surely on a match day? What Qype User (elsaub… doesn't like about Wetmore Whistle:
Great place for beer and entertainment. Bit disappointing though that if you are in the pub when the music starts you have to pay to stay. If you dont pay you are asked to drink up and leave. Sometimes its nice to just sit and have a beer in friendly surrondings. Well worth a visit. View all feedback.
The staff here are very friendly, and the beer is delightful—it's just too bad that the location doesn't attract more foot traffic. I just had breakfast, and I'm completely full! The manager kindly offered us a tab, even though he didn't know us at all. They have a great selection of beers; I usually struggle to find a good dark one. You would think there would be more customers on a match day! The only downside is that it's a bit chilly, but it's still early in the year, and I did go for a run this morning, so I’m a little sweaty...
This place is quickly becoming one of the top live music venues in Burton. They host live music most days, featuring a wide variety of genres to suit all tastes. It's definitely worth a visit to enjoy the entertainment they offer. Personally, I believe Saturday nights are the best, as some well-known bands perform then. However, keep in mind that the venue can get quite loud, so if you’re not a fan of live music, it might not be for you. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the selection of beers is excellent. The locals are also very welcoming. On the downside, the parking area is quite small, so finding a spot can sometimes be challenging. I’ve heard they have a café at the back, but I haven’t had the chance to try it.
This is a fantastic spot for beer and entertainment. However, it can be a bit disappointing that if you’re in the pub when the music begins, you have to pay to stay. If you choose not to pay, you’ll be asked to finish your drink and leave. Sometimes, it’s nice to just relax with a beer in a friendly atmosphere. Nevertheless, it's definitely worth a visit!
While I have only visited this establishment on one occasion, it was nothing but a pleasure! Friendly bar staff, nice atmosphere, a great area to watch any live entertainment (of which there is plenty! which enough space if you're the kind to Dance. Good selection of drinks, nothing majorly exotic (it has some average lagers, ciders and ales, nothing special but enough to keep you happy whether you're watching a band or in for a quiet drink. The seating is great, plenty of areas to sit, be it to sit quietly to yourself, enjoy a round with your friends or to watch some entertainment. Also while I have only been to the venue on one occasion the entertainment from their roster on the website shows that there are all style of entertainment, from various genres of music to comedy, open mic nights and more. Overall I'd have to say that this establishment is probably amongst the best venues in Burton for entertainment (providing more frequent entertainment than most and a more varied spectrum than the Appleby which caters to a more metal/gothic scene , it also appears to be great for a drink alone or with friends and offers a friendly environment. The only problem with the place I find is the location, it's very out of the way. Though it's worth the reasonably long walk to make it there from my home!
After a few years of not going in this pub i went in a few months ago with some friends to find it had been refurbished and it looks really great, its wot i call oldy worldy like a real traditional pub used to be. the staff are great and make you feel at home. i have never eaten there so i cant comment on that. but i found it a very pleasurable little pub and would go there again definately
