Others praised the exceptional food, excellent service, and beautiful views. Overall, the experience seemed inconsistent, with some dishes falling short while others were outstanding. The Brehon Bar was highlighted for its good pub food, especially fish and chips. Despite some shortcomings, the restaurant offered delicious cooking, interesting wines, and attentive staff. Several diners expressed a desire to return despite some disappointments in their meals.
My partner and I dined at this restaurant on the first night of our two-night stay. The food was excellent, as was the service. I would have rated it 5 stars if it weren't for the terrible piano playing. In the words of the legendary Eric Morecambe, the pianist was playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order. Despite that, the views were breathtaking once you looked past the car park and rooftops towards Westport.
I had a great experience at this restaurant. The food and service were both excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The menu offered a variety of options to suit everyone's taste. I especially enjoyed the Irish breakfast.
We ate at this restaurant while staying at the hotel. The dinner was disappointing, especially considering the prices. The starters were average, with the goats cheese lacking texture to complement the breaded goats cheese ball, whipped goats cheese, and goats cheese log. The whipped beetroot did not provide contrast. The mackerel was the standout dish of the evening. The main courses were very underwhelming. The overcooked pork was priced at an exorbitant €29, and the overcooked hake could have been good if cooked for less time. The individual side plates of vegetables reminded us of food from the 90s. We decided not to have dessert and found that the bar was a much better option overall.
Over priced, under performed in all respects. Will never return. Can't remember ever getting such poor quality food in any hotel before. Side veg plate was obviously plated a long time and kept under heat lamps. The rice, I wondered if it was rice, totally dried out, appalling that a waiter would carry it out of the kitchen, never mind a chef let it out. Starters were small and very expensive and we're not nice. The sauce with the steak was nice, but like everything here was very expensive for what was served.
I dont often leave trip advisers as I feel they're usually either extremely positive or negative but I feel after dining here certain things need to be addressed. Firstly we entered a lovely dining room and we were greeted with the restaurant manager which started off really positive. After he sat us in our seats it was the last time we saw him. Had an aperitif each, which were very good. Looked at the menu and suppliers and noticed none of the meats were free range or organic which was off putting. also noticed their meat supplier was palace foods! Ordered scallops which were tiny and only luke warm, flavour was good. Ham hock terrine was delicious. Mains: fish arrived 15mins before another member of the parties chicken arrived. when it arrived the plate was over 200 degrees and the chicken was dry! we returned it. dessert order and coffee were also wrong. when I eat in restaurant, if theres a problem with a course I would expect the manager/maitre'd to enquire how the whole experience was when paying the bill, that didnt happen. First meal out since covid, so was hoping for a better experience.
