The Shallows Kitchen - Westerly
The Shallows Kitchen
Description
Set in a beautifully restored riverside space, this downtown spot blends bar, lounge and restaurant with striking outdoor seating and attentive service. Cuisine is creative, ingredient-driven and often unforgettable—paired with excellent cocktails and an impressive bottle wine list—but presented as small, adventurous plates that come with steep prices and modest portions. Beer and wines-by-the-glass options are limited, and occasional loud outdoor music mars the otherwise charming atmosphere. Ideal for sunlit drinks, date nights or adventurous diners; less so for large appetites or budget-conscious meals.

Parking is available with a few spots right in front of the restaurant, but it's a bit hidden from the street, so you’ll need to come down the driveway. There’s also street parking and public lots nearby. For my dining experience, I had dinner here, and I found the overall price per person to be between $50 and $100. I rated the food, service, and atmosphere all a perfect 5. I highly recommend the Wagyu Burger and the olives. As for parking, there’s plenty of it, with options for free parking in the lot as well as on the street.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, and the owner is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about wine. However, I find the menu to be a bit too adventurous for my taste. On the plus side, they prepare fantastic drinks.
Amazing atmosphere. Off the beaten path. We were here between 6pm 8pm on a Friday and there were very few people there. The bar inside is very quant and the outdoor area is very aesthetically pleasing.
