I've been on my way for many years and in the ballroom I lost the ambiente of christmas for me. very loud room type of generic search. two main courses of salmon and bark were dry. should have carving station or order a few items from the menu. View all feedback.
I have been going for several years with my daughter, it has been our holiday tradition. We started before Covid and it was exceptional. then during Covid you needed to do what you needed to do. But now, moving downstairs, it list its ambiance. The quality of food was more like a Marriott brunch than a 5 star hotels Bruch. No clams or oysters? Low quality shrimp that were wet from water soaking and zero taste. I write for Michelin on the side, and I would never send in a review to them of what my thoughts were. When I came home, I immediately looked into Christmas brunches in Boston. Even at the end of the day, $400 for 3 people for brunch, $80 in the bar and then I had to pay $5.00 for parking, you must be kidding?? I 'd like a response back please. Just being honest, Anthony
Usually one of the best Santa brunches out there. The service is phenomenal and the food was great too but the decorations and desserts lacked this year. I will definitely be back next year but will leave them this feedback as well. The Santa there is so great!
We had attended the Santa Brunch about 5 years ago and it was so special. They have since moved it downstairs and scaled back on the entire offering. If you are looking for the live music and magical ambience of years past you will be disappointed . I feel like this was what you would get at a Marriott or something. Not worth the hour drive at alll.
Nothing good to say. Except the bus boys were very attentive. I am furious that I had to give the added tip for our waitress. She never turned around from leaning on the counter, talking to whom ever was on the other side. Not enough centerpieces. They moved them around as people came in. Set up was a disgrace. Salad on a small side bar. No plates in site, cheese in back of the hostess stand. Soup cold! Steak tough!! An the beat goes on. We paid close to 300.00 for French toast and an omelette station. Pre-Covid this Christmas Buffet was top notch! Now we are banished to the basement. SHAME ON THEM!! We will never be back. An from what we heard from another couple not many will. Nor will we do any other activities there.
Disappointed is an understatement. Ocean House should be embarrassed and ashamed to charge $140+ a head for the event my family and I attended yesterday. To begin, the buffet set up was less than appealing. There was no rhyme or reason for the way the food was set out and it just didn’t have a good flow. As we approached the ballroom where the tables were set, we noticed there was a very small decorated tree in the middle of the room and Santa? was walking around to different tables. The decor in the room was underwhelming. The centerpieces were too small for the tables and didn’t scream Christmas. There was some very thin red garland lining one wall near the bar area. I think I was expecting a beautiful tablescape, a tree similar to the ones in the lobby and some Christmas whimsy to make for a fun and exciting ambience. That was not the case. As we began to eat, we noticed the staff was not very attentive. We had to ask several times for new silverware, condiments and for plates to be cleared. Same with drinks, we had to wave folks down. At one point during dessert, my niece dropped a tiny cupcake on the floor in the buffet area. My sister in law watched as several staff members just stood there and expected her to clean the mess. The food, as I mentioned earlier, was average and eggs from the omelette station were over cooked. That being said, there are a few minor things that OH could do to make this event 100 times better. For a top rated reputable resort, it’s unfortunate we had this type of experience. $700+ for a basic, not very festive brunch. Very very unfortunate.
