Casa Della Luce - Westerly
Casa Della Luce
Description
Della Lucce offers a nostalgic Italian-American dining experience with standout pizza that garners praise for its classic New York style. While many guests rave about the friendly service and reasonable prices, opinions diverge on other menu items. Diners report disappointment with certain dishes like the gnocchi and chicken parmigiana, which lacked the homemade quality promised. The atmosphere is family-friendly but can feel uninspired. With ample parking and a diverse menu, Della Lucce remains a popular spot for casual meals, though guests may find varying quality depending on their choices and dining times.

We frequently dine in and love pairing a side salad with our pasta dishes or grinders. The food is fresh and well-seasoned every time. The service has consistently been excellent. We make it a point to eat here at least twice a month. Service: Dine-in; Meal type: Lunch; Price per person: $10–20.
The pizza here is great, and I really love the spinach roll. However, I ordered a takeout pasta chop salad and was disappointed to find only one thinly sliced ziti in it; it was quite difficult to find.
The pizza was excellent, reminiscent of the classic New York City style. It had a thin, crispy crust and sauce spread all the way to the edge. The service was outstanding, featuring very friendly staff. I highly recommend it!
This restaurant is a suitable option for families with children, but we've had significantly better Italian-American cuisine in the Westerly area of Rhode Island. We visited on a Saturday evening, and despite the glowing reviews, we left feeling disappointed. The atmosphere is child-friendly, but it lacks any real charm or style. The menu focuses on Italian-American comfort food, and Della Lucce proudly claims to serve homemade pasta, which we found to be quite good in our pasta side dishes. However, they also boast about having the best chicken parm in the region, which, unfortunately, was a letdown. The chicken parmigiana was mediocre at best; the chicken was overcooked and tough, while the sauce was bland. Its presentation reminded us of institutional or cafeteria-style dining. My date's chicken was similarly overcooked and tough as well. Although the manager offered to have it returned to the kitchen, we had a time constraint due to a performance we needed to attend. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and attentive. The wine selection was uninspired and lacking creativity, but reasonably priced.
I’ve been to this restaurant for pizza, which is always great, but I made the mistake of trying their dinner menu on a recommendation. I should have just stuck with the pizza. I ordered the gnocchi bolognese, and it was probably the worst I’ve ever had. It definitely didn't taste homemade; it seemed like it came straight out of a pre-packaged bag. The gnocchi were more like paperweights than pillows. The sauce was so subpar that it would make Chef Boyardee proud. I really dislike being served food that tastes this bad, especially when they claim to offer authentic Italian cuisine. It seems like they prioritize profit over quality.
