I went back to ask if I could... read more I ordered an omelette and a latte. After paying, I suddenly realized that I had forgotten to request non-dairy milk for my latte. I went back to ask if I could switch to non-dairy milk instead and offered to pay any difference. Instead of accommodating my request, the cashier charged me for an entirely new drink, requiring me to pay again. Not wanting to make a scene in front of my family, I reluctantly complied, but I was taken aback by the situation. The older woman at the register had a really rude attitude; she scoffed and rolled her eyes when I tried to ask for clarification. It was frustrating to see them throw out the original coffee with regular milk when I was paying for both drinks. After I left the café, I noticed three charges on my card: one for the omelette and the latte, another for the non-dairy latte, and a third unfamiliar charge. I contacted them the next day about the mystery charge, but before I did, I saw that they had refunded the erroneous amount, though I still find it troubling that such a mistake was made in the first place. I've made ordering mistakes at places like Starbucks, and they've always been willing to remake my drink without issue. This experience was unexpectedly frustrating and left me with a negative impression of the café.

However they got a coffee order wrong and l we waited nearly an hour for 2 cold sandwiches, an avocado toast and a salad. Just as we were ready to complain and leave... We noticed our food on the counter. Weweren't called nor was it brought to the table. Unfortunately, the food's taste did not compensate for the time waiting.

So by and enjoy a cup... read more My third visit while I travel through Maine. Love that I can eat in a totally gluten free establishment where the food is truly awesome!! So by and enjoy a cup of coffee, and an egg sandwich on a Canyon Bakehouse bread or wonderful muffin or scone forbreakfast. Stop by for lunch and have a panini and cookie or cupcake. You can't go wrong, no matter what you choose!! The staffis very attentive even during the busiest of times. Thank you, Roots Cafe, for a fabulous place to stop on my journey.
