What EricB doesn't like about Salmon House On The Hill:
This is by far the finest restaurant on the North Shore. The food is perfect every time, always fresh and many choices are relatively healthy too. Service is also great, spotless restaurant and washrooms, beautiful views, great atmosphere that is somehow both lively and quiet, and lots of free and easy parking on the lot. View all feedback.

The Salmon House has been around for a long time. That speaks to the quality of the food that keeps their doors open while restaurants rise and fall in Lower Mainland. In fact, I remember my dad telling me that when he worked in the factory, the workers used to save up scrap metal to sell to the scrap yard so the money can cover a meal at a nice restaurant for all of them to share. I distinctly recall my dad speaking highly about his meal here. While I had no idea where this restaurant was originally, I always remembered its name. It was time I saw what my dad was talking about, so a reservation was made. Don't let the exterior design fool you. Inside, the restaurant was beautifully highlighted by cedar and single-figured Haida Totem Poles. It did not feel dated in any way. The tall windows faced the ocean and Vancouver, giving patrons a beautiful view. I noticed the unused patio area, which I imagine would be fantastic for the summer. I definitely want to come back in the summer for a meal outside. The surrounding forrest air and the nearby ocean must bring an incomparable dining experience! The Alder Smoked Sablefish caught my eye. Our servers confirmed that it was his favorite dish on the menu. My wife chose the Lobster Pappardelle, and my aunt got the Alder Grilled Salmon Trio. My wife also got half-dozen Fresh Local Oysters. I got the Salmon House Sampler to share. Finally, the kids got the Kids Chicken Fingers with Fries. My wife enjoyed her Fresh Oysters. I can't imagine Salmon House failing on this dish, especially being so close to the ocean and in world-renowned Vancouver. The Salmon House Sampler was beautifully presented. The Sweet Soy Prawn Springroll was crispy with a hint of ginger. The apple slaw paired well with it. The Seared Scallop with French Lentil Ragout was delicious and delicate. The flavors danced in my mouth. Finally, the Sesame Seared Tuna was perfectly done and could be a main course by itself. We all exclaimed about the flavors and texture of the tuna. My Alder Smoked Sablefish was one of the best sablefish meals that I have ever had. The Sablefish was so buttery smooth. The lingering smoke flavor complemented the fish so well. This dish alone is enough to make me a repeat customer. 100% recommend the Alder Smoked Sablefish! I had a bite of my wife's Lobster Pappardelle and was surprised at the lightness of the white cream pasta. Normally, I find that white-based pasta to be too heavy, but this was OK. The lobster pieces were fair and cooked perfectly. Still, this dish can not compare to the sablefish. My aunt got the Alder Grilled Salmon Trio, which came with a generous portion of salmon overall. I got a bite, and the salmon pieces were cooked just right, though still pales in comparison to the Sablefish. Get the Sablefish!! For dessert, we shared the Affogato and the Dark Chocolate Lava Cake. Both were hits among us and cemented the awesome experience we had at Salmon House.
