Really great place. Friendly staff, good food. Good variety of options on the menu. The drinks wasn't the best, but not to bad. I had the Turkish bread with hummus and tzatziki. Was lovely and fresh. Spectacular view View all feedback.
What Veronica Christiansen doesn't like about Botanical Cafe:
Over priced food which was dry and tasteless. The positive was the view and prompt service. A shame as I did enjoy the food here about a year ago, but not on this visit. View all feedback.
We came in when it was raining in the gardens. it was a Wednesday morning to choose as many tables for us, personal is also patient and friendly as we think about the menu. love the heating lamp as it was cool and windy. Outside, so this helps to keep cool in the bay. also free wifi for us as tourist! eating is average, we shared sausage, the egg yolk of the fried egg was overcooked. a dishpot of early gray for 2 add up to $26 but considering that it is a place of interest, it is acceptable. we enjoyed the environment, in the middle of the green.
Had a lovely hr in the gardens, TripAdvisor I go says closes at 6pm so meandered over at 3.50pm. Worker at the counter rubbing ears, hair and face with no enthusiasm serving person in front of me. Told him bar is closed. He walks away...and I ask to confirm what server just stated. Yes only take away coffees! I enquired about the other establishment- Frasers, another worker advised this is still open bar and kitchen. As I turned a head chef was serving the older gentleman customer who just walked away- the chef was getting this customer proper service and beers! I stated to the other customer Frasers was open. Walk to frasers, customer service yet again aloof, and bar menu was $17-20 gls wine… needless to say I’m on the bus back to the city without spending a cent in this establishment (seems to be joined) and writing this review as NOT IMPRESSED! take a picnic and don’t waste you’re time if you’re looking for a day out with something to eat while enjoying the scenery!
My friend and I had lunch at Botanicals Cafe in Kings Park last week. She had a burger, which she said was delicious. Unfortunately I chose the Chicken Caesar Salad. It undoubtedly was the worst Caesar I've ever had. The chicken was a dissected piece...of dry crumbed chicken. Crumbed??? What I think was some sort of lettuce was sliced into small pieces and the rib of the leaf was dark brown. The mayonnaise was interesting thick, gluggy and overpowering (possibly due to the fact that there was about 3 times more mayonnaise than even extreme mayo lovers would want). I think the croutons had been marinated in the mayo not much crunch there. If there was any parmesan, I failed to find, or taste it. The one saving grace was the perfectly poached egg which adorned the top of this Eton mess. Service was good, friendly cafe service and reasonably quick and the coffee was really good. However, coffee doesn't make a meal, so I doubt I'll be a repeat customer.
Busy cafe, ordered a chicken burger and iced coffee. Chicken burger was dry with one single little tenderloin inside with a tiny handful of chips. Iced coffee was lovely but ridiculously overpriced, I paid $7 for the smallest glass of coffee with a minuscule dollop...of ice cream. Absolute rip off.
We had booked for a Christmas function. The venue was hot and fans barely working. When we went to order a drink, we told there was no beer on tap as their taps overheated. Then on asking for options ,there were hardly any option and...there was a zero care factor from the staff serving. Then were directed to the drinks menu if you can call it that to then be told there was no cider also. So the majority of people were forced to order over priced juices and soft drinks. The wine on offer was limited and not even a choice of a Pinor Noir and again we were told when asking for things, we don 't have that '. Yet standing at the counter all you could see was a row of fully empty fridges. No drink options were provided and the attitude of staff was just no care whatsoever that this was a Christmas Function. I ordered the fish of the day and it was like eating leather. Totally over priced for what was served and the quality of food appalling. Anyone that ordered a burger found the bread dry and awful. The squid salad was over dressed and again a big let down. For anyone booking for a Christmas function, this is not the place to go, Just such a disappointment for a venue that had such an amazing view and presence in the middle of the city. Would never go there again.
