We stayed here for one night while hiking the Thames Path, and we really enjoyed it. It is a really charming place. The room was so nice and clean and really romantic. The staff here is friendly, but they seemed a bit stressed out with many guests. The dinner was really good. Especially the bread was amazing the best bread we had on our entire 16 days holiday in England. The breakfast was also good. The inn has a goo... View all feedback.
What Hugh P doesn't like about The Plough At Kelmscott:
Turned up on a Tuesday lunchtime looking for a drink while walking the Thames Path. Pub looked fabulous. The main door clicked shut and was locked as we approached. Told at the side door to the bar that they were shut until 3 and that a pint and a glass of wine was not possible. Thought rural pubs were struggling and might be keen for custom. Stopped in after a visit to Kelmscott house. It was an absolutely scorcher of a day and it was the perfect spot to stop for a drink.
We had never visited this pub before- difficult to park and lucky to get a table for the 6 of us- busy Saturday. Good food and friendly staff-will go again.
We walked the first part of the Thames path and stayed at The Plough inn. It is a lovely old inn, full of character and has very comfortable rooms. The best breakfasts we have ever had and delicious dinner too. Dennis and Vincent and their team are lovely and the chef is amazing. Nothing is too much trouble. Of course Kelmscott Manor is well worth a visit and was a short walk down the lane
Lovely pub. Great rooms. Warm welcome by hosts at breakfast. Amazing breakfast and good Sunday lunch. Pub is close to the river Thames for walks. Only downside is there was no food on a Sunday evening and the pub closed at 6pm however we were made aware of this in advance.
Beware overcharged, check what the menu prices says to what they charge you. Overcharged for a bowl of chips... £5 even though menu says its £4 and you get a small.childrens dish of chips what an absolute joke.
